The Western Forest is a woodland nestled in a small, secluded valley northwest of the bay of Fawn on Serpent Isle, and appears in Ultima VII Part Two.

Description

Being host to a village of especially bloodthirsty and murderous goblins, the Western Forest is completely enclosed by an offshoot ridge of the Skullcrusher Mountains, with a secret network of patrolled underground tunnels providing the only entry to these perilous woods. That gives a great natural advantage to the goblins, since they do not have to fear a counter-attack with their location being hidden, while being able to raid human settlements more freely.

While on Serpent Isle in pursuit of the fugitive sage Batlin, the Avatar was able to infiltrate the forest and ambush its goblin inhabitants, slaying their king, Pomdirgun, and reclaiming the hitherto purloined Helm of Courage on Monitor's behalf, thereby becoming the city's new Knight Champion. In the course of this undertaking, the otherworldly hero could also attempt to rescue a captive pikeman, Johnson, who would shortly succumb to a fatal affliction during the party's return journey.
