East of the Deep Forest and west of Lost Hope Bay are the High Steppes of Britannia.

Description

The High Steppes are renowned for various breeds of horses. The High Steppes border Lock Lake in the south. Beyond the High Steppes, on the other side of Lost Hope Bay, lies the famous battlefield known as the Bloody Plains. Flowing through the High Steppes, before terminating into Lost Hope Bay, is the River of Despair.

Trivia

• In Ultima VII, there is a flower field found in the High Steppes that causes the party to fall asleep when walking through it. That's an allusion to The Wizard of Oz.
• Due to the deformation of the main continent in Ultima VII to make more room for mountains (needed for dungeons due to the engine), the High Steppes are way too small in that game.
