Night Vision is a runic spell that allows the caster to see in the dark.

Spell Description[edit]

Night Vision enables the caster to magically see his surroundings without actually providing illumination (which might attract nearby foes). Much like the traditional Britannian spell, Infravision, this incantation gives the mage an edge against foes who rely on their sense of sight to detect their prey, offering the spell-user the advantage of darkness. It should be noted, however, that this spell robs its caster of the ability to see colors.

When the spell is active the caster has a vision range greater than with a lantern but less than with a daylight spell. See the concept of light in the Ultima Underworld games for more information.

Trivia[edit]

  • The spell was not implemented without its quirks. Animated things like water, lava or sparkles do not lose their color as they should (as seen in the screenshots). For a technical explaination of why this is, see TECHNICALUltima Underworld color palettes
