Spiked helm (Ultima VI)

The spiked helm is somewhat of an oddity when compared to other helmets.

Description

Whereas most helms are considered only for their protective value, this special model has a huge spike on the top, allowing the cunning warrior to attack opponents with it as well (an albeit complicated attack). This allows the opportunity to inflict additional damage, all while keeping the fighter's head covered, and hands free if necessary.

These helmets first appeared in Ultima V. By the time of Ultima VI they were common, and Gherick at Serpent's Hold sold them for the price of 25 gold coins. In the following period of peace, the spiked helm vanished from the inventory of the armouries.

Effectiveness

In Ultima V and Ultima VI, the spiked helm has an attack value of 4 and a defensive value of 3.
