Holding a hoe

The hoe is a common farm implement. It appears in Ultima VI, Martian Dreams, Ultima VII and Ultima VII Part Two.

Description

Hoes are generally only used by farmers for moving soil, chopping weeds and roots, and digging shallow furrows and trenches. It can be used as a makeshift weapon, but not usually a very efficient one, as its design requires the use of two hands.

Effectiveness as a Weapon

In Ultima VI, hoes have a damage of 4 and a reach of 0.

In Martian Dreams, hoes have a damage of 1 and a reach of 0.

In Ultima VII and Ultima VII Part Two, hoes have a damage of 2 and a reach of 3.

Trivia

• The Hoe of Destruction is an enchanted hoe and much more effective as a weapon.
• Hoes and similar tools usable as weapons could also be found on Mars in the 19th century – see Weapons in Martian Dreams.
