A serpentine sword

A serpentine sword is a sword with a wave-patterned blade, similar to that of a Terran kris. Such weapons appear in both Ultima VII and Ultima VII Part Two.

Description

Serpentine swords could be found on both Britannia and on Serpent Isle. In the former world, they were associated with the famous Jhelomian fighting academy, known as the Library of Scars, which had adopted the figure of the serpent as its emblem. In the latter world, such blades were associated with the archaic Ophidian civilization, whose religious worship focused on deified serpents.

Effectiveness of the Weapon

Although exotic in their appearance, serpentine swords were comparable to non-curved blades when it came to matters of combat, having a damage of 6 and a reach of 2.

Trivia

• Serpentine swords have the same paperdoll art as the Ophidian Sword. Curiously, both swords also feature art of serpentine scabards when equipped as a side arm, although precisely how one would physically draw a curved sword from such a sheath is never explained.
