The Cudgel of Entry is a magical weapon which allows its wielder to easily open locked doors. It appears in Ultima Underworld II.
Description[edit]
The cudgel of entry is a unique magical item that offers no special benefits in combat, but rather allows those who brandish it to deftly smash apart stubborn locks with ease, making it an efficient (if not precisely stealthy) means of entering sealed chambers. With such an artifact, an adventurer could largely dispense with lockpicks and spells of opening.
Though sometimes mistakenly referred to as the Cudgel of Opening, it is only functional against doors (both hinged type and portcullises), not chests or other locked things.
