Pitchfork

The pitchfork is a tool often seen on farms. They are found in Martian Dreams, Ultima VII and Ultima VII Part Two.

Description

This tool is commonly used for bailing hay and other tasks that involve lifting something. It can be pressed into service as a makeshift weapon by a desperate fighter, and is favourite amongst poor peasants if they are forced to use violence. Its design requires the use of two hands for effective use.

Effectiveness as a Weapon

In Ultima VI, pitchforks have a damage of 4 and a reach of 0.

In Martian Dreams, pitchforks have a damage of 2 and a reach of 0.

In Ultima VII and Ultima VII Part Two, pitchforks have a damage of 2 and a reach of 4.

Trivia

• A pitchfork was used to kill Inamo in Trinsic, nailing him to the wall of the stable.
• Pitchforks and similar tools useable as weapons could also be found on Mars in the 19th century -- see Weapons in Martian Dreams.
