Interviews[edit]

Thanks for the interview links! But I fear the Softline link is busted and links to the guardian interview. Do you still have the link to it? I'd love to be able to read it. Thanks. -Fenyx4 18:23, December 5, 2009 (UTC)

Fixed that. Sorry! Dungy 18:54, December 5, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! -Fenyx4 19:06, December 5, 2009 (UTC)

Ultima VI Characters[edit]

Seeing that you write about Ultima VI characters, you don't have to upload the portraits, we already have them all ready here: http://ultima.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Ultima_VI_Portraits

Also I took the freedom to heavily adit the articles, as they were incomplete and lacking in style.--Tribun 17:03, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

How would you like me to change the style? I've been trying to keep them simple and matter of fact. I see you prefer using past-tense. Is there any other suggestions you would make? I didn't see those pictures there earlier. I'll start using them. Dungy 17:27, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

Just look at the changes I made, the text should be better readable now, with much extra information filled in. So try to get all the information, before writing. I also corrected the tense problem so that it now is identical to the other character articles. Present tense is for the short introduction, and everything that "happened" in the game is written in the past. --Tribun 17:32, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

I personally find referring to the Avatar as he/she as terrible style, but I guess that has been decided upon by the wikia, so I can't rock the boat. Dungy 17:34, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

Since the Avatar can be male or female, this is the only way that works.--Tribun 17:38, February 27, 2010 (UTC)
I don't know. I've had a number of teachers tell me they despise he/she since it sounds like lawyer speak, and would prefer the use of 'he' when the gender is unspecified. I tend to agree with them, but hey, I won't rock the boat.
OK, I tried making a new page with the advice you suggested. Comments? Recommendations? Dungy 20:12, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

I strongly recommend NOT using he/she simply because it looks so awful. Just try to avoid using gender at all - there are plenty of ways to avoid using he or him when mentioning the Avatar, especially if it's just a simple tangential mention. --Warder Dragon 22:30, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Agreed, this is what I think is the best solution. It's not difficult to completely circumvent the issue by structuring sentences the right way, it just takes a little more creativity. Better yet, it doesn't contradict any customs that might be in place at a given time. --Terilem 00:19, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

Already big improvement. I made some adjustments to the Gwenneth article, but not as much as the other ones needed. You only need to go a little more into detail. If things are missing, I'll add them.--Tribun 21:10, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

Wiki Admin[edit]

Forum:Administrator - Just wanted to bring your attention to this in case it goes scrolling off the recent changes. It'd be nice to have everyone's input. Fenyx4 14:32, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

The Character Portraits[edit]

I noticed that the character portraits for Ultima VII that you upload are somewhat blurry and have pixelation issues. Maybe you should re-upload them as GIF-files to eliminate the pixelation (look how clean my uploads are).--Tribun 10:24, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

Not a bad idea. What software are you using? I'm not really good at image editting, and that was about the best I could do. When I tried saving as .gif, I always lost even more graphic quality. (Dungy 14:42, March 29, 2010 (UTC))

I actually make snapshots of the portrait in Exult, copy it into my paint program (which is over 7 years old), cut out the rectangle with the portrait, remove the surrounding background by making it white and then export it as a GIF-file (important is the export, not just a "save as"). Does that help? --Tribun 14:35, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

What scalers are you using? I've been using a simple 2x scale. The original graphics were pretty grainy. The difference in our portraits may stem from that. If you're using HQ2X (forget the exact name), then that smooths out a lot of corners that were present in the original photos. (Dungy 14:42, March 29, 2010 (UTC))
I use Super2xSal. --Tribun 14:48, March 29, 2010 (UTC)
Using Exult Studio you can export the portraits directly from the game files in png format. I exported Rutherford and increased the size (using GIMP) and uploaded it for you guys to see; Rutherford.png. If the quality is good enough and it would save you guys time I could do this for all the portraits and put them all up as a zip file somewhere for you guys to pull from. -- Fenyx4 16:00, March 29, 2010 (UTC)
Hmm... do we want nicer looking scaled images, or images more truthful to the original? Your approach would definately save us time and effort. (Dungy 22:22, March 29, 2010 (UTC))

Ansikart and Anmanivas[edit]

I <3 you Dungy. I've been meaning to change that forever but hadn't been to summon the willpower to start up a new U7 game to check it out and be sure you had the option to "slaughter them like lambs". :) -- Fenyx4 03:36, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

Your duplicate pictures[edit]

I noticed that yopu posted duplicate pictures from the pictures in the Book of Mystic Wisdom. Why did you do this, when you have the option of simply using the already existing pictures (which are exactly the same content)?--Tribun 23:41, May 16, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry about that. I looked, but couldn't find 'View' under either "Peer" or "View', so I didn't know what name to search for. What is the correct image name for the two files I uploaded, so I can delete my versions? There are so many images, that it can be troublesome finding the one you're looking for. (Dungy 23:46, May 16, 2010 (UTC))

Here a list of duplicate pictures, and where the original picture is found:

Blink > Recall

Peer > Wizard Eye

Quickness > Mass Might

Repel Undead > Smite Undead

Maybe some more, I have to look. --Tribun 23:52, May 16, 2010 (UTC)

Fixed all 4 of them and set the articles for deletion. (Dungy 00:04, May 17, 2010 (UTC))

Japanese Ultima stuff[edit]

Over the next few days I'll be posting a lot of my Japanese Ultima stuff, and some North American stuff too. If you see something that interests you, and you want more detailed scans, or manual scans, or anything of the sort, just let me know. (Dungy 16:10, August 21, 2010 (UTC))

Ultima VII Cluebooks?[edit]

I notice that you post pictures and stuff from the Ultima VII cluebooks. Try as hard as I want, I never managed to find them onlines as pdf-files. Do you actually do have them in paper form? I really envy you if you have, since that the last, BIG gap that I'm unable to close and I'm unable to systematically use the pictures in them. --Tribun 01:59, August 28, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I have all the Ultima cluebooks except Ultima III and Martian Dreams in paper form. I really want to scan the whole books and put together a PDF file of the hintbooks, since I know it's not available ANYWHERE, but especially my Balancing the Scales is still is really good condition, and I'd destroy the backbone scanning it. Dungy 02:02, August 28, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I also hate destroying a good book. So hopefully you can at least give us access to the illustrations (maybe you can upload them first and then we can decide what to use them for) and stuff that we were unable to cover. Oh, and a scan of the cover would be nice, as the current covers are rather poor (bad quality).--Tribun 02:07, August 28, 2010 (UTC)
I'll do my best. I'll post as many good pictures as I can without causing too much damage. That's as man as I can get this evening, more to come. Half the pictures are right on the spine, and try as I might, it's darn near impossible to scan them properly. Dungy 02:14, August 28, 2010 (UTC)

Good work! I found a use for all of them and updated the cover art for the SI cluebook (I corrected the gamma and color balance first).--Tribun 11:43, August 28, 2010 (UTC)

Ultima V: Lazarus Portraits[edit]

Over the next little while I'm going to start uploading portraits for all of Ultima V: Lazarus. I've been autocropping them, but making sure to keep the height to 192 pixels. I've been leaving a black background because not all of the portraits have nice circles around the characters, so this way is more consistent. If everyone is happy with that, over the next little while I'll slowly be uploading photos. Dungy 18:48, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

Hiya, I noticed you adding the Lazarus template to everybody. Would you like FenyxBot to do that? Then we'd only have to come back and fill in missing data and/or change data that is different from the original Ultima 5. -- Fenyx4 12:54, September 30, 2010 (UTC)
I would LOVE to have Fenyxbot do that! Dungy 12:56, September 30, 2010 (UTC)
What I'm going to do, I'll create new pages for the merchant NPCs that were missed, and I'll be adding original U5 photos to all the NPCs that don't have those either. When Fenyxbot adds the Lazarus infobox, is it possible to have that one first, since they really do make nicer main pictures that the boring U5 screenshots. Dungy 21:30, September 30, 2010 (UTC)
Yup, I noticed you were putting the Lazarus ones first so I was doing the same. Sadly I was halfway done when my computer blue screened taking the regex I was making with it. *head -> desk* Hopefully I can get back to it today. -- Fenyx4 13:02, October 1, 2010 (UTC)
Ambrose, Fenelon, and Kenneth don't appear to have a Lazarus pictures. Are they missing or do they not appear in Lazarus? (P.S. You passed me in edits! :) ) -- Fenyx4 19:07, October 2, 2010 (UTC)
Kenneth is listed as SirKenneth, Ambrose as SirAmbrose, and Fenelon as well... he isn't there. He isn't on the Hawk's page either, which means he must have forgotten to post that image onto his website. *sigh* Anyone have Lazarus installed with a savegame in Minoc? I need someone to go hunting for Fenelon. Dungy 19:16, October 2, 2010 (UTC)

Thank You[edit]

You are like my grammatical fairy godmother. Blu3vib3 03:51, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Ultima IX NPCs[edit]

Thanks that you took on the masochistic job of filling in all the Ultima IX NPCs. I gave up on it, since most of them are hollow one-liners with no life of their own. I wanted to add this because of you comment that there are many people in Britain in IX. Want to add, that this only seems to be, as most are of the one-line type. That was one of the things that really soured the game for me.

Still, good work and you've more endurance in this regard, than me.--Tribun 07:52, 1 December 2010 (PST)

I can give you some help with some of the remaining NPCs:
  • Xarnthal in Destard. Aside from the story told by others, you can find him guarding one of the shells. He's the giant zombie, and the tomb is his.
  • Molly of Dawn. Thanks to a bug you'll propably never find her. According to hintbook, she hasn't much to say anyway, just repeating what others in Destard say about the destruction of Dawn.
  • Perli the poarrot. He talks to the Avatar when looting the chest with Katie's letter in it (it's on the ship). His dialogue is:
Perli: "Squawk! The pirates are hoarding Serpentwyne! Squawk!"
Avatar: "What?"
Perli: "I didn't say anything! Squawk!"
  • Warden Bob in Wrong doesn't exist, you only find his book entries.
I hope this helps to fill the gaps.--Tribun 23:40, 4 December 2010 (PST)
Weird, I did that quest again and I explored all through that area and I couldn't find Perli. I got the letter and explored every inch of that ship. Another bug? Dungy 09:40, 5 December 2010 (PST)
Most likely, considering how bug-infested that game is.--Tribun 10:01, 5 December 2010 (PST)
Yup, was a bug. Started a new game and flew to Bucc's Den, and wouldn't you know it it works. Dungy 14:00, 5 December 2010 (PST)

I'll take those remaining NPCs off of your hands. I'm far more familiar with the game's NPCs. - Iceblade 12:30, 14 February 2012 (EST)

All done. Iceblade 20:45, 19 February 2012 (EST)
Thanks. I'm glad that's finally done. It was bothering me, but not enough to finish it. Now to start tacking the Lazarus, Ultima III NES, and Ultima V walkthroughs. Especially Ultima V is a complete mess. Dungy 17:50, 19 February 2012 (PST)

Ultima IX pictures[edit]

Uhm, a question. Why are your Ultima IX screenshots so strangely squashed together? They should have a format of 640x480, but instead have 640x360. Everything is distored by this. Is something wrong with your picture capturing software?--Tribun 13:27, 2 December 2010 (PST)

It's my laptop. Try as I might, I can not get Ultima IX to display 640x480 with its graphics card. Not super, but I couldn't find any solution. Dungy 13:58, 2 December 2010 (PST)
Ok, that explains it. Always anoying when the technology doesn't do as it should.--Tribun 16:53, 4 December 2010 (PST)

Oh, since I don't want to open a new section. You asked me where I got the pictures of weapons and armour of Ultima IX, if I remember right. Well, surprisingly, these are scans right out of the german cluebook. I treated them with a paint program, to look more presentable and sharper.--Tribun 17:53, 30 December 2010 (PST)

Ahh... all the images in the English version are black and white. Dungy 18:52, 30 December 2010 (PST)
Really? Strange, same price (worth-wise) but all in color. Well, In exchange, the german cluebook was missing these companion-stories.--Tribun 06:06, 31 December 2010 (PST)

About the shops[edit]

Dungy, would you like me to make all the screenshots for the Ultima VII shops? It would save you the trouble. I could also add ones for Ultima VIII if you want.--Tribun 18:29, 10 December 2010 (PST)

Ultima VII to start. There's only like 4 shops in Ultima VIII, and I think they can be covered by the NPC screenshots I took awhile back. Dungy 18:40, 10 December 2010 (PST)
Actually, I've been thinking. I think for Ultima VII, I'll mostly fill in the shop information for the individual NPC, like I did for Ultima IX. I'm not sure how many images I'll actually need. Maybe hold up on that job for now, until I make a decision on how I'll proceed. Even for Ultima VI, I don't think I'll take a picture of the shop for most places, probably only inns, taverns, and blacksmiths which actually have names. Dungy 19:22, 10 December 2010 (PST)
Considering this, I think I'll alter my offer, and only include named shops. That would be all taverns, the Wayfarer Inn (Can the House of Baths also be considered a shop as a brothel?) and propably some larger shops. How will you handle that on the city pages? Create links that are just dressed-up links to the NPC articles?--Tribun 19:07, 10 December 2010 (PST)
Hmm... Well, House of Baths is already taken care of, but named taverns and inns might be a start. They may well deserve their own articles. Trainers, healers, and the dozens of little craftsmen in Britain who all sell things. For them I plan on adding their pricelists to their pages as many of them only sell 2 or 3 items. I suppose though, there's really no reason why we can't add a second image showing them at work. More images is better, right? I guess we'll see what it looks like as we proceed. Dungy 19:22, 10 December 2010 (PST)

Ok, tomorrow (European time) I'll make images of the taverns and the inn. Shops that already have pages and images are Iolo's Bows, the Blue Boar Tavern (The Inn in SI too), the Apple Orchard (yes, true), the Flour Mill in Paws, the Greenhouse (want to buy flowers?) and the House of Baths. Those you just need to edit.--Tribun 19:29, 10 December 2010 (PST)

Done, Wayfarer's Inn and all tavern pictures now online. Note that the tavern pictures of Moonglow and Cove are found on the town pages.--Tribun 09:27, 11 December 2010 (PST)

Dungy, the information what spells you can buy looks rather out of place on the character sites (far too long). Can't you combine that all in one big table that shows where you can buy which spell for how much, and put that on a seperate article and link it? It would this much more useful, especially for quick overview.--Tribun 09:49, 12 December 2010 (PST)

Agreed, I'll see what I can do. I've got it all written out now, so it shouldn't take me too long. Dungy 09:53, 12 December 2010 (PST)

Added the missing picture of the Terfin tavern. Also note that the Vesper tavern is seperated in two brnches (gargoyle and human), but share the same name

The only seperate shop article for Ultima VIII should be the Shattered Skull tavern (already set the link on the character pages), everything else is single characters:

  • Korik for weapons and armour.
  • Darion for leather armour and training.
  • Rhian for clothing and jewels.
  • Mythran for Thaumaturgy, as well as several sorcerer and necromancy reagents (seperate lists).

I'm doing the pictures for Serpent Isle shops right now. Since the Inn of the Sleeping Bull is one big shop, I think this one just needs a price list.--Tribun 07:15, 20 December 2010 (PST)

Thanks for helping me with this! Dungy 12:56, 20 December 2010 (PST)
Before I forget it, can you please also add the exchange fee for the shops and/or NPCs on Serpent Isle that do exchange money (it's a percentage)?--Tribun 08:52, 22 December 2010 (PST)
Hmm... I think you already took care of that. Thanks for helping me out with all the shops. This has been a big job. Dungy 14:43, 22 December 2010 (PST)

Since you are adding SI shops now, I added Winter Gear to the equipment. I leave it to you to decide how to integrate it with the various fur articles in the shop pages.--Tribun 18:08, 22 December 2010 (PST)

Done. Good work! Dungy 18:20, 22 December 2010 (PST)
I did the Ultima VIII shops (easy, since there are only five) and put them into a new category. Now you only have to check them and indert the references (something I'm absolutely unable to do).--Tribun 11:16, 23 December 2010 (PST)

Adminhood[edit]

Wanted to point you towards Forum:Admin_and_Bureaucrat_Policies. -- Fenyx4 08:32, 21 December 2010 (PST)

Maybe you can use your adminhood to eredicate the "About Editable Codex" that greets me when scrolling all the way to the bottom.--Tribun 08:53, 2 January 2011 (PST)
Any idea what the name of the bottom bar is? I have little idea how to do these thing. Dungy 08:55, 2 January 2011 (PST)
Looking into the source, I didn't get much. < div id="footer" > seems to be where it starts. --Tribun 09:01, 2 January 2011 (PST)

Maps for U5[edit]

I saw :

# Maps for all towns in Ultima V

in your user page.

I just modified my engine to retrieve them all without the Npcs or the avatar, did the same for britannia and underworld. I put them in a zip but I do you have a place you want them in ?

However, I don't have the names of the cities though, we'll have to get those ourselves...

As a teaser: http://codex.ultimaaiera.com/images/d/d5/Ultima_5_-_Britannia_overview.png ;-) --Fearyourself 11:14, 18 January 2011 (PST)

The map looks cool, but we need to find some way of making use of it on the codex. As for maps, well, they'd be nice to have, but we've never decided on the best way of dealing with them. Some people think they deserve to be on city pages, others do not, and the conversation stalled. Regardless, if you could upload maps of the cities and castles, and what not, and categorize them as Category:Location_Maps_-_Ultima_V, that'd be super! Dungy 14:58, 18 January 2011 (PST)
Do you want me to replace the ones that are already on the page http://codex.ultimaaiera.com/wiki/Category:Location_Maps_-_Ultima_V ? Or just upload my version of them? --Fearyourself 17:57, 18 January 2011 (PST)
Replace them. Mine are crap. Yours are better. Dungy 18:21, 18 January 2011 (PST)
Ok, I took care of the ones from the CASTLE.DAT, and I uploaded the Ultima 4 world maps (normal and VGA), though media wiki doesn't like making thumbnails for them. However, mine don't have the Npcs, I think it's better you tell me. I also now have all the maps of the U4 cities, both VGA and normal under the same format. Does it show that I've been playing with my engine ;-)
We already have pretty good maps of all the Ultima IV cities. I know they have NPCs, but i think they look OK. Your maps of Britannia are quite interesting. I think replacing the rest of my poorly done Ultima V maps would be sufficient. Dungy 14:26, 19 January 2011 (PST)
I'd especially love to see Ultima V maps of Serpent's Hold, Empath Abbey, and the Lyceaum!
Done ;-) fearyourself

Your To Do-List[edit]

You can mark off The Lore Quotes for Britannian magic spells. I put them all in.--Tribun 16:01, 6 February 2011 (PST)

Some help with spells please[edit]

I created a new infobox for spells and tested it with Circle 1 spells. How does it look? Also, I need help, since I was unable to get the picture in the infbox to center in the middle, directly under the title. Can you help modifying the infbox so that it does?--Tribun 12:36, 7 February 2011 (PST)

Thanks. All the spells are now infoboxed. I can also add, that all possible pictures have been added. There simply are spells where a picture would be useless, as there is nothing to see. Feel free to add text (as you have that on your list).--Tribun 09:14, 8 February 2011 (PST)

Infobox Trouble[edit]

When you edited the infobox for Ultima V NPCs, there must've been a little error in your editing, since collapsing it, there is a strnage, empty space beneath it, before the next line. Look at the article Chuckles for an example. I have no idea how to program these things, so can you please look into it. It looks unpleasing to the eye.--Tribun 13:43, 12 February 2011 (PST)

Thanks for pointing that out Tribun. All fixed up. Dungy 16:33, 12 February 2011 (PST)

Ultima II NPCs[edit]

I have such a soft-spot for the absurdity of Ultima II, thanks so much for tackling these guys with the tongue-in-cheek-ness they deserve. :)--Blu3vib3 14:16, 26 February 2011 (PST)

Spell article's name poll[edit]

Hey there, I think you may want to contribute to the Forum:POLL: Spell article's merging policy. Thanks!--Sega381 17:02, 6 March 2011 (PST)

Ultima 5 internal page[edit]

I seem to have an issue with the images on that page, I wanted to put the combat pics and all the pics seem to have an issue. I don't know if it's me but if it is, I apologize --fearyourself 4:30, 8 March 2011

The issue is how you're trying to link to the images. don't use "img src" to do it. Just upload the images here and link to them directly like you always have. Do you want to fix your current page, or do you want to revert to February 20th when things weren't broken and try again? Dungy 13:47, 8 March 2011 (PST)
Yeah, if you can revert it, I'll fix back what was added (the combat maps for one thing). I must have messed up on one of the edits but I don't know how exactly. Sorry about that. And I just saw your message about the other maps (Serpent's Hold, Empath Abbey, and the Lyceaum)
I reverted the whole thing. Feel free to try again. Any questions, just ask. Dungy 14:31, 8 March 2011 (PST)
Ok, I don't know what I did wrong but anyway it's fine now. I did another little mistake : I thought the system would automatically transform my bmp into png but it didn't. So I reupdated each picture to give the png version of it but the history remembers the bmp versions. If you go to http://codex.ultimaaiera.com/wiki/Category:Location_Maps_-_Ultima_V, you can zoom through the pictures and remove that huge bmp one which should be the one in the middle. I finished updating/uploading the combat maps and every city/keep/castle.
I'll do that. Looks great! Great work! Dungy 15:47, 9 March 2011 (PST)
Ok, I've just uncoded all the dungeon rooms, there are more than a 100 of them, do you want them also somewhere (perhaps a new category though) or not? You tell me ;-) fearyourself
Hi! Hope no one minds me joining in to conversation but I've been putting U4 dungeon rooms in Category:Dungeon_Room_Files. Considering the quantities involved perhaps we should do some subcategories though... -- Fenyx4 12:50, 10 March 2011 (PST)

Ultima IV Location Maps[edit]

I noticed your upload of the illustrations form the Ultima IV cluebook. I honestly have no idea what we should do with them. They are pretty useless as maps (the color tile maps are far superior) and I don't know where we could put them as illustrations.

Btw., I uploaded all unique Underworld spells.--Tribun 13:11, 9 April 2011 (PDT)

I don't know what to do with them either, but they sure do look cool. Dungy 13:13, 9 April 2011 (PDT)

Rituals[edit]

A little request. Maybe you can create a little navigation template for the Rituals? I'm currently not finding the time for it.--Tribun 13:44, 22 April 2011 (PDT)

10-4! Dungy 13:46, 22 April 2011 (PDT)
Huh?--Tribun 13:49, 22 April 2011 (PDT)
10-4Dungy 13:50, 22 April 2011 (PDT)

Since I don't want to create another section, I write it here. I noticed in the category Ultima IV spells that the sandboxes of several users are found there, which they shouldn't. Since I ahve no admin rights, maybe you can take care of that?--Tribun 16:06, 22 April 2011 (PDT)

EDIT: In addition to that, can you maybe expand the spell template so that for Savage Empire it also has a slot for Totem? (Offering can use the Reagent slot, is the same)--Tribun 17:28, 22 April 2011 (PDT)

Interesting... admin rights are not needed to remove those pages from the UIV category. It's a little more convoluted than that. These three sandbox pages include infoboxes, and the infoboxes automatically add a page to a category. So the only way of removing those pages from the category would be to remove the infoboxes from the sandbox pages.--Sega381 18:59, 22 April 2011 (PDT)
Yeah, and I don't really feel right just deleting someone's sandbox, I mean, it's not mine to be messing with. I'd say people should clean up their own sandboxes, and put what they see fit in there. As for creating Savage Empire magic templates. I think I can do that, it's just a matter of me studying how the other templates are constructed. Work in progress. Dungy 19:02, 22 April 2011 (PDT)

Your Update List[edit]

I've noticed your new project list, and have to note, that we already walkthroughs for Ultima Underworld I and II, found here and here. I wrote these myself. If you want to add a section with more general tips and hints to these, feel free to do so.

Also someone partially began a walkthrough for Ultima V found here, but never completed it.--Tribun 14:37, 12 June 2011 (PDT)

Thanks! Yeah, I know of those sections, but especially Ultima V is quite incomplete. I'm going to expand them out a bit. Dungy 14:41, 12 June 2011 (PDT)

I've completed the Ultima VII Walkthrough, you can now go through it and do corrections when appropiate. I'm now thinking about doing the same for Ultima VII Part Two. As that one has next to no sidequests, it will be differently structured.--Tribun 03:29, 5 April 2012 (PDT)
Done! Now both parts of Ultima VII have walkthroughs. Now we only have to find one for Ultima III.--Tribun 12:09, 13 April 2012 (PDT)

Lazraus NPCs[edit]

I've read that you can't get Dalgrin in Lazarus to tell you to buy a drink to Tierra. The solution is, that he only talks about the subject, when being outside at the docks at certain times of the day.--Tribun 13:32, 30 June 2011 (PDT)

Thanks! I was getting frustrated. I'm doing my best to be thorough, but I know I'm missing stuff in this game. So much text! Dungy 13:55, 30 June 2011 (PDT)

Blackrock Obects[edit]

No offense, but blackrock objects with a black background is a bad idea. Could you please redo the pictures with the items in front of a bright background?--Tribun 04:44, 3 September 2011 (PDT)

I tried that, but I really didn't like the look of that either. They're kind of a hard object to make look good. Dungy 05:31, 3 September 2011 (PDT)

Ultima Underworld 1.5[edit]

So, if you're actually interested in finding a way to translate this and you have access to somebody who speaks the language, I should note that there is one copy on Amazon Japan (I've been using amazon.co.jp to track down ISBN/page number info) from a seller who will ship internationally (link) --Blu3vib3 10:36, 8 September 2011 (PDT)

Haha, well the fiance is Japanese, and is trained as a Japanese language instructor. But, I have yet to share my obsessive love of an obscure RPG series with her, so this may be an uncomfortable way to start things. :P Dungy 19:20, 8 September 2011 (PDT)

Lazarus NPC[edit]

You missed a Lazarus entry. At Great Council, Windemere (NPC) is missing. As his story should be interesting, although he isn't encounterable, he should be added as well.--Tribun 11:14, 1 October 2011 (PDT)

I'll do that. he has a long story, but I'm not sure I remember all of it. Dungy 11:23, 1 October 2011 (PDT)

Ultima 5[edit]

Image decoding. I've decoded all the .16 and .4 files but I don't know exactly where to put them. Any idea ? With the dungeon images, there are about 140 images for the .16 and 138 for the .4. fearyourself 23:00, 9/10/11

Refresh my memory, what exactly do the .16 and .4 files consist of? With that many individual files, they probably deserve their own page, though. Dungy 14:19, 9 October 2011 (PDT)
They are all the graphics of the creation process, the first story images, end images and dungeon images. Basically, any image of the game. I'll create a page and let you tell me if that's ok. fearyourself 17:46, 10/10/11
Ok, I've moved forward and I've decoded each dungeon with each level. To make sure, I wrote a little tool that creates a BMP for each level using the generic tiles of the game, here is an example. It needs a bit of tweaking to get it awesome but tell me if you'd like these for the wiki instead of the ugly maps of the dungeons: http://gamengine.net/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Covetous_0.bmp
Yeah, those current pictures are kind of ugly. If you could replace them with something nicer, that'd be great. Hmm... might need tweaking on some of the tiles so it's clearer what they represent. And arrows. Dungy 12:14, 30 October 2011 (PDT)
agreed but before I did anything requiring a bit of work, I prefered checking. What do you mean by arrows though? The stairs are not clear enough?I could add a legend to the maps and I'm going to ask an artist to make a few tiles for it User:fearyourself:fearyourself

Ain't Wikia grand?[edit]

I noticed your back-and-forth with the staffer at Wikia earlier. I also requested that they remove all my Lazarus work as I despise the fact that they're making revenue off my intellectual property. Instead of simply taking down the images, which I'm sure she's capable of doing, I'm now supposed to go through red tape just to get it done. I'm so tired of those guys; I wish the Codex had never been there. </rant> --Terilem 21:10, 4 November 2011 (PDT)

Yeah, I also sent them a message saying all Lazarus images which were illegally taken from your website need to be taken down. I also sent them a message saying there are links to http://www.replacementdocs.com are illegal and should be taken down, as well as all scans from Origin manuals should be taken down too, since we're not the copyright holders for those, and Wikia's hosting of them is likely illegal. Unfortunately, they will not remove the hundreds of in-game screenshots I've taken, saying those are public domain. Dungy 04:22, 5 November 2011 (PDT)
I know I'm the one who originally broke the law, and we're still breaking the law here, but... screw those guys. Dungy 04:23, 5 November 2011 (PDT)
So essentially they say it's now their property? Well, fuck them. Right now they're doing everything to piss us off. The new color scheme is a pain on the eyes (balck text on blue) and the new puppet they've installed has erased all hints at our move as the first action. Jeez, what assholes.--Tribun 11:58, 5 November 2011 (PDT)
I don't think they're going quite so far as to claim the images as their property, but they're certainly making the removal process more complicated than it needs to be. I wouldn't be quite so disturbed if Wikia was a non-profit organisation, but I'm rather uncomfortable with the ethicality of their making advertising revenue off other people's intellectual property. --Terilem 23:16, 5 November 2011 (PDT)

Strange Effect[edit]

I noticed a strange effect. When not logged in, some entries in some categories seem to be missing (for me it was the individual mangas in commercial fiction and some locations in UO locations). I have no idea what causes it, but it could be confusing for visitors.--Tribun 02:22, 17 November 2011 (PST)

Not sure, they seem to appear for me when I logged out. Dungy 04:27, 17 November 2011 (PST)
I tested it on two different computers... same effect. Very strange. It's mostly articles that were created in recent months. I however have no idea what could be causing it, but it sure can become bothersome.--Tribun 09:19, 17 November 2011 (PST)
Checked it out and I'm seeing it too. Some sort of caching problem. (Anonymous users see cached pages in a lot of circumstances where logged in users don't). Dunno why they aren't getting updated properly but you can force a purge of the cache by following these instructions. Which I did on Category:Commercial_Fiction a moment ago and it got fixed. -- Fenyx4 14:50, 17 November 2011 (PST)

What should I do?[edit]

Dungy, I need your advice. While updating the manual and cluebook links with the ones from Pix (check it out, many rare things are under them) I also saw that he has complete PDFs of "Forge of Virtue", "Temper of Wisdom" and the "Technocrat War" Trilogy. Do you think I can put up these links as well, since the books are no longer published?--Tribun 13:46, 25 November 2011 (PST)

I'm kind of at a crossroads on this. I hate posting links to material like this, but on the other hands I want as many people as possible to share in these novels. I'd like a few more people to weigh in on this issue. Dungy 14:55, 25 November 2011 (PST)
And lots and lots of illustrations to add from those scans of the Serpent Isle cluebook. I didn't have the guts to beat my cluebook up like that, but good for Pix! Dungy 16:01, 25 November 2011 (PST)

Help please[edit]

I've encountered some problems programming the navigation bar for the reagents so that they open the correct sub-bar (the top one is always open). Can you fix it please?--Tribun 10:18, 11 December 2011 (PST)

When I can. I'm currently reformatting and recovering from another catastrophic system crash. The same virus that got me 6 months ago got me again. Dungy 11:13, 11 December 2011 (PST)
Ouch!... I hope you got backups, I know had depressing it otherwise could get.--Tribun 11:16, 11 December 2011 (PST)
Nope, no backups. All my school notes and study aids... gone! All my Ultima stuff... gone!Dungy 11:36, 11 December 2011 (PST)
Yikes Dungy, sorry to hear that. :( --Terilem 11:38, 11 December 2011 (PST)
Don't worry, I took care of it. It looks like you just need to pass which region needs to be expanded in the template, i.e. Reagent_nav|Britannian. I updated the ones that are already there, so you could see how it works. Hope that's what you were looking for Tribun. Browncoat Jayson 13:35, 11 December 2011 (PST)

A Suggestion[edit]

Seeing that right now we have four different spamming accounts active at the same time, I have a suggestion. On another wiki (self-hosted) it was made that new accounts would have to be approved by an admin before they'd be activated. Since we already have over 60 dead spammer acocunts in our closet, maybe we should do so as well in order to finally stop the folw of spamming accounts. It wouldn't be too inconvenient for new users if we tell them why we do so.--Tribun 09:11, 16 December 2011 (PST)

I don't think there's much I can do about this. We'll need to get Fenyx4 to pipe in. Dungy 12:23, 16 December 2011 (PST)
Yes, that looks like a job for him. You know how to contact him? (To underline the urgency, another of these accounts just popped up)--Tribun 12:37, 16 December 2011 (PST)

Bug in the website?[edit]

I wonder if there is a bug in the website. When a picture is left of a listing of points or references, the reference numbers and dots are actually inside the picture and not pushed to the right like the other content. I tested this with Opera and Internet Explorer. If you see that as well (for example on the bottom of Fire Sword) maybe we should tell Fenyx (hopefully we can somehow reach him).--Tribun 09:48, 22 December 2011 (PST)

EDIT: I moved the picture so to see the effect, you have to move it to the left. Also have to add that before I switched to Windows 7, it did work. Further edit: Seems the problem is known here--Tribun 11:05, 22 December 2011 (PST)

Mysterious Sosaria Renders[edit]

Hi Dungy. Seeing that the site Mysterious Sosaria was just sitting there, forgotten and obviously sometime getting axed, I saved all of the nice reders of places in Britannia. I plan to put them as a gallery in the article, but do you think they'd also look nice in the various places articles? I though I'd ask for your input.--Tribun 09:23, 25 December 2011 (PST)

I'd try asking for permission before we go that route. I think they'd look beautiful on the site, but I'd be hesitant to use without permission. Dungy 13:53, 25 December 2011 (PST)
Hmm. Assuming permission is granted, I have no problem with displaying the renders in a gallery (good idea, in case Mysterious Sosaria does eventually go down), but I'm not so sure about using them as depictions for each respective location article. I do generally like them, myself, but at the end of the day they aren't an official source. --Terilem 04:19, 26 December 2011 (PST)
Well, contacting him is out, all e-mail links have long went the way of all living things. No wonder, the page is sitting there for 12 years now and he's moved on. However, I did read in the FAQ he doesn't mind as long as a link o te page is present (which it is). I think this greenlights it.--Tribun 04:50, 26 December 2011 (PST)
As a point of interest, Televar is still around. He runs the Ultima Collectors Guide. --Terilem 05:49, 26 December 2011 (PST)

Thanks, didn't know that. I wrote him and hope to get an answer soon.--Tribun 06:38, 26 December 2011 (PST)

Just got mail, he allows us using them as we see fit. Uploading them for now for the gallery.--Tribun 06:07, 27 December 2011 (PST)

Btw., I laughed my ass off when I saw this. I bet they didn't ask for permission. Also, the last image wasn't imported propery and they got numerous facts wrong. Man, EA gets really cheap (this site is official, I checked).--Tribun 14:20, 13 January 2012 (PST)
Oh well, nothing we can do about that. We just want to try to keep ourselves on an honest path. I'm sure it's all somehow Wikia's fault. :P Dungy 14:28, 13 January 2012 (PST)
The LoU wiki is community edited, just like any other wiki. So, that part isn't really official. lol. There are lots of bad pages on that wiki. --Browncoat Jayson 20:18, 13 January 2012 (PST)

Illustrations update[edit]

Good news. I finally managed to squeeze every last illustration out of the manuals and cluebooks and have them here at reasonable quality. It was quite some work but sure pays off.--Tribun 10:26, 13 January 2012 (PST)

SWEET! More illustrations is always better. Dungy 11:08, 13 January 2012 (PST)

Something VERY interesting[edit]

Searching around, I found THIS. This is the first time I actually found all the dialogue fragments of the Serent Isle usecode that weren't used in one readable page, complete with instructions. However, I feel that I'm not really qualified for the needed edits to include this information, so I ask who you think should do it.--Tribun 07:35, 15 January 2012 (PST)

Underworld Spells[edit]

I finally got myself to write navigation for the Underworld spells and also added the unique spells I missed. I now have the problem that there are a number of spells that also exist in the main series and I don't know how to proberly edit the infobox (as I always used a pre-made template I just modified). The spells in question are the following:

Create Food
Light
Detect Trap
Magic Arrow
Cause Fear
Lightning
Cure (called "Cure Poison")
Heal
Poison
Destroy Trap (called "Remove Trap")
Fireball
Open
Telekinesis
Great Light (called "Daylight")
Charm
Great Heal
Invisibility
Paralyze
Reveal
Armageddon
Flame Wind
Time Stop (called "Freeze Time")
Restoration
Tremor

Maybe you can help me out with this? --Tribun 07:51, 27 January 2012 (PST)

I'll take a look at that, but it won't be for a few days. I'm traveling, moving to a different city, and spending some time with the fiance. Fun times! Dungy 20:00, 27 January 2012 (PST)

U5 Lazarus Walkthrough[edit]

Well, I got it started. Not sure about the stuff before the Foreword section though. Also should we make a subheading for every quest? I would think that the table of contents would balloon beyond in uselessness given how many side and sub quests there are. - Iceblade 13:00 14 February 2012 (EST)

I commend you for starting this. I tried a few times, but always quit in fear. Ultima V Walkthrough, Ultima V: Lazarus Walkthrough, and recently Ultima III (NES) Walkthrough are three pages that have been bugging me for a long time, and they need to be integrated into the wiki much better. The problem is, that's work.
I don't think we should subhead every quest, that seems like a ton of work. Also, I know it's possible to do inter-page links in the wiki, which would really make things simpler, but I'm not sure how to do that properly. Dungy 12:00, 14 February 2012 (PST)
How much linking do you think we need to do for the subquests and walkthru portions. That is a lot of text and links to add, a fair number of them being repeats of location links. Iceblade 23:00 14 February 2012 (EST)
When a unique NPC comes up, definately. Cities can be iffy. I don't think we have a steadfast rule on this, unfortunately, and especially in walkthrough it can be tricky to get the right balance. Dungy 03:56, 15 February 2012 (PST)

U6 Transcript[edit]

Great job on the transcript completion. - Iceblade 20:40 Feb. 19 2012 (EST)

Hear, hear! Sterling effort, Dungy; it's so great to finally have a complete U6 transcript available. --Terilem 18:04, 19 February 2012 (PST)
Now if only U9 were as easy to compile a complete transcript for, I could have it done in a week or two rather than over a month. - Iceblade 21:17 Feb. 19 2012 (EST)

Nitpicks[edit]

Hey, what is with the removal of the nitpicks link on the game related sections? You're not planning on deleting the nitpick pages are you? I think they need to be preserved here since there is no telling the longevity of current location for Hacki's site.

PS The other pages I can understand... rather trivial stuff for a trivia section. - Iceblade 25 Feb. 2012

There was a discussion awhile back about it here Category_talk:Nitpicks but to summarize the nitpicks don't fit the style of the wiki very well. We've been working on spreading the info on these pages to the relevant pages. -- Fenyx4 22:29, 25 February 2012 (PST)
And besides, even if Hacki's page does eventually go down, there's always the Internet Archive. Plenty of backups there. --Terilem 23:26, 25 February 2012 (PST)
How do we want to handle the U9 nitpicks, what is relevant and what isn't? Also, can you hold off on certain U9 nitpick pages until I had some time with them. Minoc, Moonglow, and Trinsic are ready to be examined. - Iceblade
Hmm, I'd say if you feel like there is something interesting or relevant to the nitpick, move it to a separate article. If it's just someone complaining about the plot of Ultima IX, or if it's just inane stuff like, "In Ultima VII Iolo had a strength of 18, but in VI his strength was 19, this is a clear inconsistency.", get rid of it, since that's already covered on the character stats pages. Also, if it's already adequately covered in a different article, ditch it. - Dungy
Okay just hold off on Skara Brae, Castle British, and Terfin, the rest are fair game for dealing with. Go ahead and slice and dice at will on the other pages. My hands run red from all of the cutting. - Iceblade

So is that the last of the nitpicks and nitpick related pictures/pages? - Iceblade March 15 2012

I believe so. Good job getting rid of that. It helps clean the wiki up a little.

Block[edit]

Sorry! I was going through all the recently deleted pages and blocking their IP address. Musta clicked next to your name instead of next to their IP address on accident. Really sorry. Glad you could unblock yourself. -- Fenyx4 05:08, 13 May 2012 (PDT)

U6P[edit]

Wow, thanks for your help with the U6P stuff! I had already feared it could break my neck. Maybe together we can stem this huge efford. Just one thing: we already have an U6P NPC section. Could you please move your entries to it and close the new category?--Tribun 07:28, 7 January 2013 (PST)

Tell me about it. All of that Lazarus stuff must have taken me at least 200 hours to do. I was never going to get around to this if you hadn't started. Dungy 07:32, 7 January 2013 (PST)
Thankfully, as you said, I already have created a lot of stuff. The walkthrough had been the hardest, due to its sheer length (and I don't even have the evil path) and I plan to go with locations of unique stuff next, although that will be patchy, since I forgot most of it.--Tribun 07:46, 7 January 2013 (PST)
Yeah, that's often best to do while playing. I'll help out with the walkthrough a but as we go. Dungy 07:48, 7 January 2013 (PST)

Btw., when creating the links for NPCs on the city pages, I also created a list of all new NPCs. The team has added around 50 new NPCs (I think its closer to 60).--Tribun 07:53, 7 January 2013 (PST)

I saw that. That'll be very helpful to me. When doing Lazarus, I was constantly missing NPCs. Dungy 07:54, 7 January 2013 (PST)
Want me to put the list here (I already formatted it)? It surely would make it even easier to have one central list.--Tribun 07:56, 7 January 2013 (PST)
Couldn't hurt! Dungy 07:59, 7 January 2013 (PST)

OK, here we go. If some links aren't dead, it's most likely a former U5 character. Britain:

  • Almric (actually in the Castle): caretaker of the royal dogs
  • Gate Guard: a guard
  • Hermione: leader of the adventurer guild

Skara Brae:

--Tribun 08:01, 7 January 2013 (PST)

Btw., I do remember the NPCs in Cove having a bit more to say. Is that right ow just a placeholder until you can get through all the dialogue?--Tribun 08:26, 7 January 2013 (PST)

The shopkeepers really have nothing to say. Ava/Leona are a WIP. I'll finish those after liberating the temple. Dungy 08:27, 7 January 2013 (PST)
I'd talk to everyone again after the freeing of the temple (and of the shrine). Just in case it gives some new lines.--Tribun 08:38, 7 January 2013 (PST)

You forgot to add Ahrmaand. He's the one NPC you forgot in Cove.--Tribun 09:53, 7 January 2013 (PST

Thanks, and thanks for adding extra info about the characters. Nobody wanted to speak to me for some reason. Dungy 10:19, 7 January 2013 (PST)
What do you mean, "not want to speak"? And as you see, I also corrected the header. It now correctly just adds the NPC category.--Tribun 10:26, 7 January 2013 (PST)
Btw., don't forget party member portraits.--Tribun 11:26, 7 January 2013 (PST)

Excellent so far guys. --Iceblade 12:10 am January 8, 2013 EST

You are making good progress with Yew, but there is still much to do. Yew is one of the towns with bigger expansion on characters.--Tribun 07:14, 8 January 2013 (PST)

I've created Equipment Locations in U6P. Maybe you can wrie down whenever you find one of these items, so that the location list can grow.--Tribun 07:57, 10 January 2013 (PST)

Will do! I'm going to head to Despise in a bit. I need a break from Britain's NPCs. Dungy 08:00, 10 January 2013 (PST)
Just a word of warning: you will meet at least one gazer in Despise, so better be prepared.--Tribun 08:21, 10 January 2013 (PST)
You do seem to make good progress in Britain. Just the Gate Guard, Arty, Terri and Peyton are left before you have West Britain done (east Britain of course is a different matter). I thought I should point that milestone out.--Tribun 09:11, 10 January 2013 (PST)

I just wondered something: Sould Adan get his own article? I know, the guy is already dead, but the sheer involvement his person has with numerous people and the whole plot surrounding him would justify it. As "portrait", a screenshot of his body at its last resting place would suffice. What do you think?--Tribun 07:18, 11 January 2013 (PST)

Yeah, we can do that. We'll need a link from Despise, Efram, Terri, and Hermoine. Dungy 07:20, 11 January 2013 (PST)
Good work on Britain, I think only 6 NPCs are left. Now that you go to Dispise, can you please make notes for Adan (the story is in greater detail there), items and screenshot the maps you find? Thanks in advance.--Tribun 16:32, 11 January 2013 (PST)

Now that you have overcome your block in Skara Brae, things seem to go well again. Btw., Grindl can tell you a lot about Rew, you just need to know how to tell her (I however have forgotten how to trigger it, must be somewhere in Minoc).--Tribun 09:17, 18 January 2013 (PST)

U6P - Part II[edit]

I felt that I should start a new section, since the old one was becoming too long.

Seeing your progress, I have to make some NPC comments. With Minoc almost complete, you have nearly cleared the northern half of the main continent. In Minoc itself, you are just missing Grindl's story about Rew and have to add what others in Minoc said about her. Then, the only NPCs in that half of the continent missing are Sin Vraal, Nicodemus, Wyburn's milita group and the fake militia group, as well as the Fuzzies (Emps). I guess you saved Michael for until you can solve the murder mystery.

Now, Paws and Trinsic will be fun, since these people almost always have new developments and new stuff to tell. Trinsic also holds surprisingly many new NPCs. Both also have numerous new portraits.

Keep up, the fun is soon about to really start.--Tribun 13:01, 19 January 2013 (PST)

Yup, it's coming along slowly. I'm trying to do most of the main continent before heading to sea. Might save a few for when I come back, like Sin'vraal, since I'm not really supposed to meet him yet. Dungy 14:35, 19 January 2013 (PST)
I think getting sent to Big Ben by Strom after accepting the quest from Jimmy in Trinsic gives extra information from him. (For this, you need to free the prisoners in Yew, but that shouldn't prove difficult).--Tribun 05:24, 20 January 2013 (PST)

You forgot the number of which unfinished portrait Zoltan is using. Please fix the picture link.--Tribun 14:07, 20 January 2013 (PST)

Seriously, screw that ant mound. I went in with 2000 arrows, and 100 healing spells. I had to sprint through half the last level of the dungeon because I ran out of arrows. Hundreds of ants chasing me. Grabbed the map, used the orb of the moons. SAFE. At least Destard had treasure! Dungy 17:23, 20 January 2013 (PST)

Well, that's you own fault. My strategy was to get this map last and only when I got Death Wind, as it allowed me to eradicate the ants freely. Right now you simply aren't strong enough and should only start serious dungeon crawling after freeing all shrines.--Tribun 17:31, 20 January 2013 (PST)
I know, but I got bored of freeing shrines. I now have like 40 food, 3 heal spells, and 0 arrows. Maybe it's time to go to do Trinsic. On the plus side, each of my characters gained close to 800 experience in there. Dungy 17:36, 20 January 2013 (PST)

You forgot to infoboy Anthony and Grison.--Tribun 09:42, 21 January 2013 (PST) Not Anthony, I goofed and meant David, his father.--Tribun 09:45, 21 January 2013 (PST)

Fixed Grison. Anthony looks OK to me. Dungy 09:46, 21 January 2013 (PST)
Concerning Mandrake, in U6P he travels from town to town. David still needs to be infoboxed.--Tribun 10:17, 21 January 2013 (PST)
Paws NPCs are still missing talking to the inhabitants after concluding that the fire had been an accident (just return to the ruin). Also, Grindl's story of Rew is still missing. I can add it because I forgot most and can't access it right now.
You can solve the murder in Skara Brae by talking to everyone about everything, Quenton and Michael included, tolg to the Gate Guard and then tell Marney you suspect Michael. The rest is easy. Michael is one of the missing NPCs as well.
After that, only Nicodemus, Sin Vraal (meeting him does no harm) and the militia groups are remaining to be done on the mainland overworld. Two NPCs I just wrote articles about, are only reachable by ship--Tribun 04:46, 22 January 2013 (PST)

I'm surprised you managed to reach Buccaneer's Den through the tunnel. Good work on these guys, just Fentenissa and Homer missing (he's mostly the same as in the original). On the mainland, Empley and Wyburn's militia are only left. The earliest you can feel safe to talk to Sin Vraal is after learning of Ol' Hawknose (I know, you have the map piece, but still). Also, the reactions in paws from the real cause of the fire is still missing.

You have to be admired, that must be a hell of a work to play and write articles. Thanks also for noting the new equipment locations (although, there is MUCH more down in the pirate fort in the lake near Phoenix - you should come back later).--Tribun 08:50, 23 January 2013 (PST)

I'm going to orb back to the mainland and finish up those things. Yeah, there's a ton more to do down in the pirate fort, and on Buc's Den, but none of it is available to me yet. I'll have to remember where I found a few of those magic items down there. I usually have a good memory for those things. I also checked out the Spirit tunnels, but there is nothing there worth making a map over. Guess I after that, I can head to sea. It's about time. Unless I want to do Destard first. :P Dungy 09:43, 23 January 2013 (PST)
I almost forgot, Grindl's story of Rew is also still missing. And to spare you too much pain, here some tips: Don't enter Destard yet. First free all of the shrines and level up at Honesty and Valor for buff and brains. Also, the Crypts have some nice loot, as does the Lycaeum library. Trust me, you will need that stuff.--Tribun 10:35, 23 January 2013 (PST)
Yeah, I played Destard back in 1.0. It is tough! Dungy 10:37, 23 January 2013 (PST)
Indeed yes, amazing work here. It isn't easy writing something while playing through a game like this. - Iceblade 07:52, 24 January 2013 (PST)
Tell me about it. I constantly want to just say "screw it", and actually play the game. But taking careful notes like this is the only way to not miss things. Dungy 14:30, 24 January 2013 (PST)

Can't find silverleaf? It almost at the southermost tip of Spiritwood. Maybe that's why you can't find it.--Tribun 10:48, 23 January 2013 (PST)

Found the Silverleaf? Btw. the shipwreck you found is the Dutchman. Also, if you want some nice equipment, climb the mountain south of Empath Abbey, until you find the lake at the top. Search the water near the waterfall for a deviously well hidden chest. Now, just Wyurn's group is missing.--Tribun 12:21, 23 January 2013 (PST)
I'll be back for Wyburn's group and and the silverleaf. I have a hankering for sailing. Dungy 12:23, 23 January 2013 (PST)

In case you didn't read it on the other talk page: I wouldn't do that. They also told me you can't mix paths, it's mutually exclusive. So I'd suggest saving an extra game where you later try the evil path, and then just go on (and talk with Lorcan just for fun)--Tribun 15:25, 24 January 2013 (PST)

I did some playing around, and so far after freeing 6 shrines and finding 3 map pieces, if I lower my karma to 0, Lorcan will still talk to me, and ask my help reuniting him with the soul of Mondain. It seems likely I can at the very least find the pirate treasure and free all 8 shrines before I ruin the evil path, as long as I don't talk to Lorcan with high karma. I'll keep this in mind for when I decide to map out the evil path. It'd be good to have to replay as little as possible. Dungy 16:44, 24 January 2013 (PST)
Ok, still means however you can already create an article for him and snoop around his island, right?--Tribun 16:49, 24 January 2013 (PST)
Fascinating to see these dark path things, but you should keep that a separate save from your main game (since it has unpredictable consequences in-game). Also, NPCs with dark path info should have that info separated from the rest of the information with a sub-header. --Tribun 17:54, 24 January 2013 (PST)
My current plan is to reload my good character. Then I'm going to finish freeing the 8 shrines and do the pirate treasure map. Then I intend on going evil. It amazes me that my character can go from a paragon of virtue to an absolute villain merely by stealing all the grapes in a vinyard. 18:01, 24 January 2013 (PST)

I suggest playing normally until you have translated the book with the Silver Tablet. You should then create a special save from which you later continue normally, before doing all this evil stuff. My warning has a real background, the devs themselves gave it to me. Since you need both paths for all the information, this would be best I think.--Tribun 18:05, 24 January 2013 (PST)

You are making really good progress. Of the settlements, just Jhelom and Seprent's Hold are left. That then leaves only single NPCs and the Gargoyle Lands.--Tribun 08:55, 27 January 2013 (PST)

Congratulations on getting all Gargoyle Lands NPCs... however, did you also get the ones on the farming island? (I know there are tons of them on it) In Britannia, you are just missing Wyburn's group and everyone on Terfin. Btw., Razo and Oran (Skeet) do have portraits and I uploaded them. If you can't find the group - they sooner or later do appear at night near the eastern shore of Lock Lake.--Tribun 13:09, 9 February 2013 (PST)

Ohh... crap, forgot farming island. OK, remaining is militia group, Sutek, Gorn, pushmepullyu, Pipps, Ambrosia, and farming Gargoyles. I'm only around for 3 or 4 more days, and then I'm away for a month, so we'll see if I get this done before then. I have 3 more dungeons to do, too, so probably not. Dungy 13:29, 9 February 2013 (PST)
Trust me, the dungeons are not the problem. Control is piss-easy if you have high-level magic and Diligence is small enough to be done in anhour (thanks to the puzzle). Only Passion is the hard one.--Tribun 13:49, 9 February 2013 (PST)

Could you delete this please?[edit]

Could you do me a favor? I created pictures for the category "Ultima IX Icons", which are now replaced by Iceblade with better ones. However, due to the file format, he has to upload new ones. Can you delete the old ones? You can recognise them since they are all the only GIF-files in that category.--Tribun 14:53, 24 January 2013 (PST)

I actually made a U6P contribution![edit]

Wow! The team accepted my pictures of the Shrines of the Principles and they will be in the final 1.1 release! Dungy, since I have these uploaded here, and they obviously are not in your build of the game, it means we can use these for the articles. You just have to rename them for me.

Mondain-U6Project.png Minax-U6Project.png Exodus-U6Project.png

These need to be renamed to the "Name - U6P" sheme. Could you do that for me?--Tribun 11:27, 28 January 2013 (PST)

By the way, since I knew you were interested, the first Portrait Pack is now online for download, and it should work with your version as well.--Tribun 17:26, 4 February 2013 (PST)

Dark Core Walkthrough[edit]

I noticed you started a topic for this; you might want to compare yours with Houston Dragon's, which was linked to the Dark Core site before the Geocities takedown. You can find it on the Internet Archive. --Browncoat Jayson 19:12, 25 February 2013 (PST)
I used the Houston's Walkthrough to help create my own. Some content is borrowed, and some is original Dungy. I should scour Houston's page, and see if there's anything else worth putting on the wiki before it is lost to the sands of time. Dungy 05:04, 27 February 2013 (PST)

Icons and To Do list[edit]

Thanks for all of the animation and icon reorganization work. And dang does your to do list look very short now. Lazarus inns, Lazarus dungeon Maps, Ultima VII save games, Ultima VII Transcript, Un-stub keyring mod NPCs. Looks like this won't take you long at all. ;D - Iceblade 09:14, 7 March 2013 (PST)

Thanks. Almost 20,000 contributions can do that. The list will never truly end, and there's a lot of things I've done that are not on my list. Dungy 14:59, 7 March 2013 (PST)

Sorry.[edit]

Sorry if there were any duplicates. "Thanks for all the contributions since, Arthgon. :))".

Your welcome. Well...only if meant positive, right? --Arthgon (talk) 00:43, 19 March 2013 (PDT)

Don't be silly, of course it was meant positively! Dungy (talk) 03:49, 19 March 2013 (PDT)
Okay. I don't know why I was asking that...must have been low on caffeine. --Arthgon (talk) 04:26, 19 March 2013 (PDT)

Dungeon Map Files[edit]

Looks like you are almost done with Dungeon Map Files. Were you planning on moving Dungeon Room Files too? There's a lot of them so I could use FenyxBot if you'd like. -- Fenyx4 07:02, 9 April 2013 (PDT)

Fenyxbot for both them, if you could. Then I'll just delete both categories. Dungy (talk) 08:51, 9 April 2013 (PDT)
Well, that took me too long but it is done. FenyxBot thanks you he liked getting the rust shaken off of him. -- Fenyx4 19:12, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
