Standing ever-vigilant against the Gargoyle menace, the Castle Britannia gate guard could be found just outside the castle. He would raise or lower the drawbridge on the hero’s command.
During the investigations in Skara Brae about the murder of Quenton, the Avatar was told that the gate guard was the brother of Trenton Bell, the mayor of the town. The soldier relayed his harrowing encounter with a gargoyle at the gates of Castle Britannia, and the fierce fight that still haunted him. Talking to him after having exhausted all other leads inside the city and gathering all evidence, he expressed serious doubt that it were gargoyles who had done the killing, since he had witnessed true gargoyle behavior. However, since he doubted that his brother in his cowardly and lazy ways would re-open the case, he suggested that the druids of Yew would be better suited for investigating the murder.
