The Death Scythe appears in Ultima VII.

Description

This is a truly fearsome magical weapon. This scythe glows with blue, magical death energies, warning everyone of the danger they will face when engaging its wielder. This weapon not only causes horrible wounds, it actually drains its victims of their life energy like a vampire, bringing foes a quick demise. This makes the Death Scythe one of the strongest, and most cruel, weapons. It's thankfully rare, only existing in Britannia.

Effectiveness of this Weapon

In Ultima VII, the Death Scythe has a damage of "50" and additionally drains the foe's mana and casts curse.

Trivia

• It is surely no coincidence that the Ferryman has this weapon, since he closely resembles the Grim Reaper.
• It is impossible to take the Ferryman's scythe. In the game's programming he is defined as an object and not an NPC, and therefore he does not have an inventory (notice that he never moves either); the scythe is part of his sprite.
• The scythe actually has two additional powers: it casts the spell Curse on the foe, if hit, and it drains the victim's mana like the Magebane.
