Sacrificial Slab
The Sacrificial Slab is a stone altar on which the Gargoyles attempted to slay the Avatar, whom they believed to be the False Prophet. Located in the Realm of the Gargoyles, it is found in Ultima VI.
Description[edit]
This slab, located at the northern end of the holy city of the Gargoyles, close to the Temple of Singularity, was used by the gargoyles for living sacrifices – as evidenced by the graves nearby – though it can be deduced that in Gargoyle society, this was supposed to be a great honor.[Citation needed] However, when the Gargoyles kidnapped the Avatar in Ultima VI to sacrifice the hero, Iolo, Shamino and Dupre interrupted the ceremony, killing the conducting priest before he could kill the Avatar. When later visiting the lands of the Gargoyles, the Avatar could also approach the slab, though at the time it was abandoned, with the time for sacrifice still away.
The slab was destroyed when the Realm of the Gargoyles got torn apart by the void.
Trivia[edit]
- The Gargish writing on the slab seen in the introduction is the same as the one later read on the sign next to the slab. It means kahmanizende tablap, translated "Sacrificial Slab".
