The Big "X"

The Big "X" is one of the more bizarre sights in Britannia.

Description

Located in the northern Drylands in Ultima VII only, it is unknown how this "X" came to be branded into the ground.

The Avatar managed to open the chest resting on the "X" - since it surprisingly was unlocked - and discovered beneath lots of junk a bounty of several Glass Swords within. Within also was a key to a chest in the meeting hall of Serpent's Hold, which held many good things.

Inventory

Besides lots of junk, the following useful items are found:

• 2 Glass Swords
• 2 Bandages
• 1 Blowgun
• 1 Torch
• Key to chest in Serpent's Hold

Trivia

• The exact coordinates are 48°N 137°E.
• Foreshadowing his background, the Guardian says, "I am the Pagan Lord" backwards when closing in on the X for the first time.
• This X could very well be a parody of the clichè that an X marks the treasure. It's in the same vein (or could play upon) as similar jokes such as in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Monkey Island.
