Bastion
The Bastion used to be the fortress of the Paladins of Trinsic. It is visited in Ultima IX.
Description[edit]
After the great Cataclysm flooded Trinsic, the city was rebuilt on the islands in the new lagoon. Center part of the city became the massive Bastion, which housed the Paladins of Trinisc. A statue also was erected next to the main entrance at the docks, which held the Chalice of Honor in its hands. However, when said chalice was lost one day and Trinsic subsequently abandoned the virtue of Honor, the ghosts of Paladins past became enraged and drove everyone from the Bastion.
When the Avatar arrived in Trinsic, the gate guard Vidos warned of the haunting in the Bastion, but didn't stop the Avatar from entering. After dispatching of several enraged ghosts, the Avatar could hear from the shade of Lucian why the other ghosts were attacking everyone in sight. The ghosts were only put to rest once the belief in Honor was restored to Trinsic.

Trivia[edit]
- The place of the Bastion in the structure of Trinsic is bad area design. If one wants to go from one half of Trinsic to the other, the only path is through the Bastion instead of a walkway around it. The design makes no logical sense, as it would have generated constant traffic in the fortress and later on meant that one couldn't walk through the town without getting attacked by ghosts.
