The flour mill

The flour mill in Paws is the sole visible means of milling flour in Britannia in the time of Ultima VII.

Description

The mill was owned and operated by Thurston, who claimed that the local agrarian economy very much depended on it for flour. During the Avatar's adventures in Paws, the hero could take on the task of delivering wheat to the mill on behalf of the widow Camille – a farmer who appeared to be the mill's sole provider of wheat at the time.

Trivia

• A modification for the Exult utility for Ultima VII gives the player the ability to grind wheat at the flour mill, although dialogue has been added such that Thurston will grow cross if this is attempted while he is present.
• Feridwyn, the operator of the local Fellowship homeless shelter will insinuate that Thurston could make more income if he ran the mill with more of an eye towards profit.
• Willy, a baker in Britain, will pay the Avatar four gold for every sack of flour purchased wholesale from the flour mill, although such ventures are far from profitable, given that Willy pays but a third of the flour's original cost.
