The Ice Plains are located on the northern part of the Serpent Isle beyond the mountains. They appear in Ultima VII Part Two.

Description

When the War of Imbalance swept over the Serpent Isle and then resulted in the Chaos Serpent being ripped apart, the northern regions of the mainland – once lush, green and sporting thick forests – started to freeze over due to the Imbalance, getting buried under snow and ice, while ice drift blocked the seaways. That was one of the reasons why the followers of Order left the devastated land.

In the present time no one lives in this white and cold hell, as anyone without the right gear is doomed to freeze to death. However, it is now the home to the gwani, white-furred creatures used to the cold. In the midst of the snow lie the ruins of old Ophidian temples and the two ancient cities of Spinebreaker and Skullcrusher, forgotten by all. Yet, legend says that strange things are going on in these cold lands.

• Yurel’s account of the area near the Temple of Tolerance, which he describes as lush, green and sporting thick forests with lots of game animals, is a direct confirmation that the area was not frozen over at the start of the War of Imbalance.
