Teleportation is the process where characters are swiftly or instantly transported to another part of the world or even a different world.

Methods[edit]

Teleportation is performed by a variety of means, some of it from naturally occurring phenomena and some by artificial means. In all cases, the process is magical.

Gates[edit]

Main article: Moongate

Naturally occurring gates appeared first in Ultima II as time doors, which transported the Stranger not just through space, but also time. Beginning in Ultima III, moongates would transport the Stranger to different part of the Sosarian map, according to the phases of the moons. In Ultima IV, Britannia afforded the same resource. Starting with Ultima IV it was revealed that the Stranger was brought to Lord British’s realm through blue or red moongates at the break of the games. Beginning with Ultima V, the Avatar was able to summon moongates, as well as select their destinations, via the Orb of the Moons.

Moongates also enjoy the distinction of transporting the Stranger to other worlds:

Teleport Storms[edit]

Main article: Teleport storms

In Ultima VII Part Two naturally occurring teleport storms snatched some of the Avatar’s equipment, displaced a lighthouse and transported the Royal Mint to the Serpent Isle.

Spells[edit]

Several spells can perform teleportation:

Teleport pads[edit]

Main article: Teleport pads

Teleport pads will teleport individuals who step on the pad to a fixed location. Sometimes this feature is two-way, and the teleported person can simply reverse course and return to the original pad, but sometimes it is a one-way trip.
