The end of Kotl

The ancient underground city of Kotl is the last witness of the once great culture of the beings of the same name, who had once ruled over Eodon.

Description[edit]

The city is roughly divided into five districts. The central district houses the surface entrance, as well as the internal teleport plaza and the hologram of the great Katalkotl. The western district once housed the Myrmidex, but now is closed off and just a huge battle field. The northern district was reserved for the Kotl and it shows in the huge houses that are equipped with all one would need. The eastern district houses the power supply of the city, which is run by generators that are fed by a lava stream. The southern district once housed the human slaves, who had been forced to exists in horrible conditions in labyrinth of rooms in order to better control them.

All parts of the city are interconnected by a sophisticated teleport platform system, which not always leads back to the central teleport plaza at the entrance.

History[edit]

The Kotl once had managed to create sophisticated technology powered by a corrupted moonstone, creating the high-tech city of Kotl. For one reason or another, they wanted slaves to do their bidding and abducted humans from various time periods. Once they realized that humans were too independent, however, they created the Myrmidex as work slaves. This proved to be their undoing, as the Myrmidex Queen seized the Moonstone and cut the Kotl off from their invulnerability-fields. In the following battles, the Kotl had to flee their city and over time became the Sakkhra, fallen from their former grace. The Myrmidex also left the useless city and it became forgotten.

Prior to Savage Empire, Dr. Spector discovered the city, but went insane when the force-field protected him. Later, the Avatar had to enter the city with the help of the Kotl Gem in order to destroy the generators and finally disable the shields. Doing so in the end with the help of the Kotl-automaton, Yunapotli, caused a chain reaction, which caused the entire city to finally collapse.

Lore[edit]

The Underground City of the Kotl is one of the most bizarre places to be found in the Valley of Eodon, and is already one of the most disputed. Eminent archaeologist Johann Spector claims that it was built by men in ancient times, while learned professor Elliot Rafkin insists that it was built by the ancestors of the Sakkhra "people" (see the listing for them).

I have already mentioned that it was occupied by moving automatons, some man-sized and some huge. There are many other wonders there, including strange devices with unknown functions. You'll also find hundreds of desiccated insect corpses and mouldering bones (respectively, dead Myrmidex and Kotl), evidence of the final battle which depopulated the city.

Inhabitants[edit]

Trivia[edit]

  • There is a vending machine which gives chilled fruit for the price of emeralds. Either the Kotl had a really huge supply of emeralds, or inflation was a huge problem at these times.
  • Found inside are the following useful items:
