General MIDI Patches

The General MIDI Patches are two patches for Ultima Underworld and Ultima Underworld II, created by Panzer Dragon.

Features[edit]

The music for both games was written before the General MIDI standard was created for games. This results in the Roland music sounding highly strange nowadays in DOSBox, with many instruments being out of place. Panzer Dragon thought so as well and created newly programmed MIDI files for both of the games, which conform with General MIDI standards. Installation is simple by extracting the files into the SOUND folder, overwriting the existing files, and then selecting in the setup program of the game Roland for music. If one wants the original music back, the files have to be copied from the original CD.
