Following is a list of all planet coordinates of the Solar System in Ultima II.

The Coordinates[edit]

The coordinates are listed in the Xeno, Yako, Zebo order they are asked in the game when hyperwarping to a new destination. In this list, "settlement" means if there is a town/city or not the planet in question. "Dungeon/tower" is exactly that. Also, the coordinates of the Sun are only here for the sake of completeness, as entering them quickly leads to a fiery death.

Trivia[edit]

  • The coordinates of Earth (6,6,6) can be seen in Pirates Harbour, the only space port on Earth. The three 6s are rock islets in the village harbor.
    • 666 is the biblical number of the beast. This could be just a coincidence, because in at least one other occasion Origin staff admitted their ignorance of the Bible.[1]
    • Actually, the solar system coordinates in Ultima II are a three-dimensional 10x10x10 grid. The center of the grid is at 5,5,5. The coordinates of Earth and Sun are symmetric about it: one is at 4,4,4 and the other one is at 6,6,6. The grid can be seen above.
  • Statistically, the number 4 is used the most with nine times, while the number 7 is not used at all. The second-most used number is 6 with five times, while the second-least used number is 8 with just one time.

  • The following table lists the data from the manual and the corresponding coordinates after mathematical calculations.
The distance of each planet from the Sun was calculated using Pythagoras' theorem in three dimensions, scaled so that Sun-Earth distance is 2 (Sun: 4,4,4; Earth: 6,6,6).

  2. Right Ascension (RA) – If all planets were approximately on the same plane (as they are in our world, but not along Minax's alternative timeline), this would be the Sun-Earth-planet angle. It constantly changes as each planet orbits around the sun at a different speed. This angle can be observed on the bird's eye wiew of the solar system.
  3. Declination (D) – This is how "high or low" a planet gets above/below the Sun-Earth plane during its orbit. In our world it is always less than 8° (except for Pluto), but not along Minax's alternative timeline. This angle can be observed crossing the "platform" and "first person" wiews of the solar system.
