Shalira is a trainer of the magical arts in Moonglow in Ultima V: Lazarus.
Shalira missed her former life at the Lycaeum, taking pleasure in the majestic height of its spires, but when some of the students became too enthusiastic with their interest in the dark arts, Lady Janell and Lord Shalineth had forbidden further inquiries on the subject. Shalira felt this was directly opposed to the Principle of Truth, and when the former archmage Lady Janell had refused to lift her objections despite Blackthorn's persuasions, many students had gone to Moonglow to further their studies, and the king granted the title of archmage to Flain. Fearing an eventual war between the Oppression mages and the Lycaeum, Shalira felt Verity Isle would never survive such a battle.[1]
Shalira was at a crossroads with her feelings towards the Oppression, noting that they did much to retain law and order in Britannia, but she was uncertain of their methods. The mage felt that Lord British's reign certainly hadn't been free of corruption, and those who sought to rescue the king often seemed more interested in overthrowing Blackthorn. If the citizens would quiet down, Shalira felt that Blackthorn count focus on the true problems facing the land, mainly the Shadowlords, and organizing a real expedition to find the former liege.
Should the Avatar attempt to convince Shalira to join the Oppression at the behest of Donn Piatt[2], the young mage would only join if the hero assured her that the Oppression was not evil and that Lord Blackthorn's Ethics were correct. She was hesitant about having to hurt others, but felt it was a necessity if they broke the law. After informing Donn Piatt of her decision, Shalira's conversation would change to imply she now inhabited Windemere. Shalira noted how she passed all of the Oppression's admission tests, despite the great physical hazard they possessed, but she was unhappy with the cold island surrounded by serious students who were incapable of mirth.
Shalira denied knowledge of the theft of Malifora's Crystal Tear, suggesting maybe the gypsy's son Malik would have a better idea of the identity of the culprit.
Shalira was willing to teach Channeling, Duration, and Destruction. She would only teaching Destruction to members of the Oppression.
