Born in Paws, Donn Piatt thought he’d grow up to be just another farmer of shepherd. He longed for a life of power and prestige like in the stories of Old Magincia, though without the daemons. He left the village as soon as he thought he was old enough to handle himself and went to Britain, hoping to find some fine teacher and maybe earn a position in Lord British’s court. He studied law and politics for several years but was never offered a job by the crown until Lord Blackthorn assumed the throne.[2]

The Oppression tested and approved Donn Piatt, accepting him as a member and stationing him as Moonglow’s new counselor in the wake of the Great Council’s dismantling. Donn Piatt cared only for the Eight Virtues as a means of law, and felt they must be followed to the letter. The councilor personally thought Blackthorn was a great man who had done well given his circumstances, and felt he would be a fine replacement for Lord British.

Donn Piatt talked at length about Moonglow’s citizens, noting he often spoke to the gypsy woman Malifora, not knowing her true identity as a former Great Council member, and was mildly disturbed by her vision of a future where he was put on trial in Castle Britannia. Believing himself to be acting in the best interests of Britannia, he felt she must be mistaken in this. The councilor felt Nilrem was more show that sorcerer, and that Terrisa the Guard Captain was a serious woman who was well suited for her duties. Donn Piatt attempted to discredit Zachariah’s research on the Shadowlords and their relationship to the comets, feeling he only spread lies and discontent, and was partially mad.

If the Avatar wore the black badge, Donn Piatt would ask the Avatar's assistance in recruiting Shalira to the Oppression. Should Shalira be convinced to join,[3] the councilor would be most grateful for the Avatar's help.

Donn Piatt admitted to knowing little about Malifora’s missing Crystal Tear.
