Merzan is a tradesman at Killorn Keep who specializes in potions, magical items and artifacts. He appears in Ultima Underworld II.
Description[edit]
Charming and quick-witted, Merzan dealt in trade goods with magical properties, namely potions, in addition to offering his services as a loremaster and magician. For a fee, the merchant could identify mystic artifacts, re-potentate depleted magical wands and brew custom potions on demand, beside his regular stock. While he was forbidden by the law to sell actual rune stones, he offered to the Avatar to reveal the composition of two unique spells (Repel Undead and Paralysis Rune) for the right price – 175 gold coins each for both spells.
The one thing Merzan would not do, however, was engage inquisitive travelers seeking information and gossip. (He would prove most unhelpful should the Avatar wish to know trivia concerning such sundries as the Mystic Blade of Rognak).[1]
Lore[edit]
“ | Merzan, Bishay and Aron all offer brisk business in the main hall — Killorn makes frequent landings near the cities that ring the wastes, and thus are able to circulate trade goods, without the risks run by ground-bound merchant caravans. Merzan in particular is a valuable acquaintance — he is especially knowledgeable when it comes to potions, and has been known to custom-brew potions of Iron Flesh and Flameproof. |

Goods for Sale[edit]
The following potions Merzan does have for sale, along with his services. Having a high Charisma-skill lowers the prices a little.

Potions of Flameproof and Iron Flesh are only available when asking for something special and then specifying the request.
Trivia[edit]
- Merzan can also create potions of Flameproof and Iron Flesh when asking for special potions. He will, however, require ten bottles of water in addition to whatever gold he charges should the player request a Flameproof potion.[1]
- Merzan not only accepts gold coins, but also gold goblets, sceptres and gems for payment, though the exact value of these in gold coins is unknown.
