Finding the mage shield

The mage shield is a special shield, with enchantments woven into it, that absorb part of the power of magical attacks. However, this item is rare.

Description

In Ultima IX, Mariah had such a shield in her possession, kept safely in her basement. However, the Avatar had little opportunity to actually use it, since it had to be exchanged with Batista for the sigil of Honesty. It is unknown what happened to the shield after that.

Trivia

• The shield has a defensive value of 3-5 and block chance of 40%.
• The shield absorbs up to 20% of a magical attack.
• If Mariah was not killed in Deceit, she appears when entering the basement and allows the Avatar to take the shield.
• The only way to regain it is to murder Batista.
