The Official Fanbook was entirely a creation of Locus and was printed in full color. It introduces the world of Ultima by showcasing all of the games as well as important characters in the series; features a picture-heavy guide to Britannia (most pictures are from Ultima IX); provides explanations of the philosophy in Ultima; and includes a detailed history section and a language guide. The book also includes interviews with Sage Sundi, EA Square online service manager, and Ryosuke Kutsuma (久津間良祐), EA Square localize associate manager; as well as the 2001 Ultima IX calendar.

The book also contains a CD-ROM which holds, among other things, some demo movies, fonts, a dictionary for Ultima, and a Runic-to-Roman converter.
