The Genesis of Ultima features interview excerpts from Richard Garriott, along with information about the development of the Ultima series. It contains the operation manuals and brief walkthroughs of Ultima I-IV; guides to other Ultima games including Savage Empire, Martian Dreams and both parts of the Underworld series; as well as interviews with Hitoshi Yasuda (安田均), notable TRPG designer, Aya Nishitani (西谷史), author of the Ultima Youmahen (ウルティマ妖魔変) novels, Ichiro Harada (原田一郎), aka Avatar Harada, assistant chief editor of LoGiN magazine, Yasuhiro Kawabata (川端康弘), game designer of the Famicom-version of Ultima IV, and of course Richard Garriott himself.
The book also contains a CD-ROM on which the Apple II-versions of Ultima I-IV are found together with a disk image of Akalabeth and the Applewin emulator to actually play the games (on operating systems of the time).
