Tara is a healer at The Healers Mission in Minoc in Ultima VI.

Description[edit]

The Avatar found Tara to be a kind and compassionate woman who had faithfully served the sick and injured of Minoc for threescore years. Tara was quite willing to heal, cure, or resurrect anyone in need, and was even willing to waive her normal fee for healing and curing if the person was penniless. Tara told the Avatar that the mantra of sacrifice was 'cah'.[1]

The Ultima 6 Project[edit]

In The Ultima 6 Project, Tara remarked that twenty years might seem like a short time for the Avatar and companions, but it had been a considerable time for her. Minoc, she noted, had changed from a city of the poor and destitute to a bustling hamlet of craftsmen. The days of the wandering tinker were over in favor of town-bound artisan, Tara said, and now it was only the homeless gypsies that traveled the lengths of the realm. The old healer remarked that now that the artisans of the land had formed their own guild and congregated in Minoc, they had managed to drive up the prices of goods in the other cities of the realm since there were no local craftsmen in those communities to compete. She felt that even though the tinkers might be richer, the rest of Britannia had become much poorer.

Lore[edit]

I tried going to Tara the healer for a hangover cure (I had had the foresight to bring a couple of full wineskins for my last visit), and instead got a lecture on how I should go meditate at the Shrine of Sacrifice out in the desert. Well, that's one mantra that will never cross my lips! I have bad enough memories of my one visit to that shrine anyhow, as I'll tell you presently. Anyway, I left her with my head throbbing worse than before from the lecture!
