The NES Ultima IV manual "The Book of Lore" is the manual for the NES-port of Ultima IV. It is 80 pages long.

Description[edit]

Unlike the manual of the previous port, this manual does come in the normal game manual size factor. Also unlike the manual for the previous port, this manual is not only in full color but also works a lot more like the manuals of the classical Ultima games, though unlike the original manual for Ultima IV it never manages to consistently stay in-universe due to many play tips. Interestingly, the introduction was moved from the game into the manual. The book is filled with custom-made illustrations in full color as well.

Book Content[edit]

Other Editions[edit]

The edition that was released with the game in Japan is quite different from the international release. The book prominently features heavily deformed anime art – though surprisingly the cover itself is not in a deformed style – in pastel colors. While the book content is identical, the presentation is quite different due to the many highly-deformed illustrations and the color scheme.
