Jimmy Malone is a correspondent for the Ultimate Adventures magazine and, thanks to his curiosity, another of the stranded people on Eodon.

Description[edit]

When the Avatar visited Dr. Rafkin in his laboratory, Malone was already there, waiting for his appointment to interview the Professor for the magazine. Unfortunately, the whole lab was sent to Eodon shortly after the Avatar's arrival. There, Malone got quickly separated from the group thanks to Darden, and captured by the Disquiqui Tribe, who planned to fatten him up so that he could marry Guoblum, the obese daughter of the Disquiqui's chieftain, Chafblum.[1]

Thankfully, the Avatar saved Malone from this horrible fate (the lazy prisonkeeper, Lerei, did not care if Malone was freed or not) and he joined the group. Jimmy's notes were very useful for remembering the various tasks they had to accomplish. Also, his camera was needed to free the Great Fabozz.

After the end of the adventure, he returned to Earth and indeed wrote numerous articles about their adventure for the magazine.

Lore[edit]

But Rafkin wasn't here. Instead, sitting in the room's one padded chair, was an angular young man. Dressed in a two-piece suit, its waist a little too high, its lapels a little too broad, he looked as though he sprang from a 1930s nostalgia show. He jumped up, too full of energy, as I entered. "Hi," he said, stuck out his hand; I shook it "I'm Jimmy Malone. I imagine you're here to see Professor Rafkin."

"Yes, I — "
"He'll be back in just a second. Gone to talk to his mummy. Ha, ha. Don't knock yourself out laughing. Who're you?"
"I'm — "
He gave me a sudden, intense look."I know who you are. Oh, what a file we have on you. Every so often, you disappear for days on end. Usually come back really tanned. Your neighbors are curious about all that, you know? Care to comment?" He fumbled around his jacket pocket and drew out a battered notebook.
I closed my eyes for a moment, sighed. "Great A reporter. I come to visit my friend and get a reporter instead.

Trivia[edit]

  • The copy of Ultimate Adventures magazine that comes with the game is the result of his travel.
  • He also is credited as the author of The Savage Empire Clue Book, rather egoistically painting himself as the hero of the adventure in place of the Avatar, whom he puts down at every opportunity.
  • The surname Malone is a reference to journalist Edward Malone, the narrator of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novel The Lost World, one of the primary sources for Savage Empire.
  • Three people playing Jimmy Malone were the photographers at HoBLotH II.
