Brethil is a former druid in Trinsic in Ultima V: Lazarus.

The wife of Beledan the paladin, Brethil considered herself a minor artist and historian, and took pride in her personal library, which she believed to be the biggest in Trinsic. The former druid told the hero how she enjoyed long erudite conversations with any educated person, and spoke highly of the locals and their adherence to Honor. Brethil longed for the return of Lord British, and was highly crical of Blackthorn's regime. She felt than even though the fighters of Jhelom may be valorous, the paladins of Trinsic were superior for their sense of Honor. [1]

Formerly from Yew, she worried how the citizens back home felt about her decision to leave the life of a druid and settle down in Trinsic. She remarked that Drusilla had been highly critical of the marriage, remarking that to a traditionalist like Drusilla, marrying a non-Druid for love, and leaving Yew, was an inexcusable offense. Madam Pendra had been much more supportive of her marriage, and Brethil was saddened that she had disappointed the wise woman by leaving Yew. If Jaana is in the Avatar's party, she will voice her continuing support of Brethil's union with Beledan.[2]

Brethil had become the center of gossip spread by Paul, stating that she had entered into an affair with Tallon of Trinsic. At Tallon's behest[3] , Beledan was willing to join his wife Brethil in discussing the matter prior to the Trial of Honor. The Avatar could choose to help convince Beledan to ignore rumors and that it was possible for a man and woman to be merely friends, thus calling off the trial, or the hero could choose to egg on Beledan's suspicions, leading to the eventual Trial of Honor. The Avatar could later expose Paul's lies, and force him to flee the city.

Brethil was responsible for teaching the local paladins about Impedance and Protection
