Beledan is a paladin in Trinsic in Ultima V: Lazarus.

Husband of the former druid Brethil, Beledan was imprisoned within the walls of Trinsic after Blackthorn's regime forcibly took control of the city. At the behest of Mayor Ellison, Beledan and the other paladins who resisted Blackthorn's rule were forbidden from leaving the city even a day. Even though Beledan hoped for Lord British's return, the honorable paladin felt that the Resistance members who worked in the shadows to overthrow Blackthorn were nothing but rabblerousers.

Beledan was frustrated by the situation in Trinsic. Even though there were no dangers currently facing the city, he was unable to leave its walls. He had originally been brought to Trinsic by Ellison to become a paladin, and could not understand why no matter what he did, he was not honorable enough for the mayor. The distraught paladin felt there was no longer any honor left in Trinsic, and felt that he had been betrayed by his wife Brethil and his friend Tallon, believing the two of them were involved in an affair. Beledan was determined to have Justice in the matter, and intended to challenge Tallon to a Trial of Honor with the assistance of the mayor.

At Tallon's behest, Beledan was willing to join his wife Brethil in discussing the matter prior to the Trial of Honor. The Avatar could choose to help convince Beledan to ignore rumors and that it was possible for a man and woman to be merely friends, thus calling off the trial, or the hero could choose to egg on Beledan's suspicions, leading to the eventual Trial of Honor. The Avatar could later learn that Paul was responsible for creating the unfounded rumors of the affair, and if the plot was exposed to the furious paladin, Paul would be forced to flee the town for his safety.
