The game box

Ultima Legend (ウルティマ伝説 (Ultima Densetsu)) is a board game released in 1987 in Japan by Bandai as the 82nd release of their "Party Joy" board game series for 1000 ¥. It used the same box art - and other art in the game material itself - as the Japanese verion of the NES-port of Ultima III.[1]

Description[edit]

This board game for 2-4 players essentially tries to replicate the original computer game in that the plays have to attept to fulfill certain quests in order to defeat Exodus. If that is not done in a certain timeframe, then the world is doomed. The play field is a map of Sosaria, as is was seen in Ultima III, though not a copy of the cloth map. Other parts of the original game are also glimpsed, like the four marks on the quest and party cards.

Due to the language barrier, the exact rules of the game are, as of now, unknown.

Trivia[edit]

  • Origin and Pony Canyon are acknowledged right on the game box, though the logos are so small, it's easy to miss them.
