Name[edit]

I want to change the name and tone of this article to speak about the outcast as an indidivual. We already have the article outcasts to talk about the group.

I'm thinking of just calling him "outcast", or if that term is ambiguous in Ultima then "outcast (UW1)". The thing is that Outcast can be several things:

  • A particular unnamed character, memeber of a group of outcasts on the first level
  • A named character, also a member of that group
  • A named character, not a part of that group, but still an outcast by profession/classification

If it sounds like I'm being nit-picky, I sort of am, but this same pattern is used on several characters so I'm trying to come up with a system for dealing with it. The same thing happens for the goblins, mountainman, lizardman, trolls, and to some extent the mages.

I started with the goblins, the green goblin (UW1) is the individual while the green goblins (UW1) are organized on the first level and the goblins are the race in general.

For a start, I think we should be biasing our article names towards the singular. Often article names based on common nouns are plural when Wikipedia would have made them singular (eg. bears vs. wikipedia:bear, musical instruments vs wikipedia:musical instrument, etc.) So for a new article or a rename, I'd be more inclined to come up w/a name based on "outcast".
As for this, I'm not sure what/who you are focusing on here. If there's an outcast w/out a name, convention would put him as "unnamed outcast". And I'm not sure why you have two other bullet points. If there are named characters, you would just give the articles names as their names.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 10:59, 13 March 2025 (MDT)
