All these tables look quite ugly. Can't you combine them into a single table?--Tribun 12:56, 26 October 2010 (PDT)

Agreed, they are super ugly. I fiddled around with them for about 30 minutes a few nights ago and couldn't get a better look. I'd like to put them into two separate columns, but I couldn't get it to display the way I liked. I have it as multiple tables right now since that is the way it's displayed in the Ascension hint guide, but I could put it in one table.Dungy
I actually meant that it is handled this way:
Food & Drink Cost Provisions Cost Spell Scrolls Cost Weapons Cost Armour & Shields Cost Weapons Cost
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

That would look quite acceptable. I'll see how it works on various pages. I'm just worried that it might get too wide. Also, how will this work with different categories having a different length? Will we have a bunch of empty boxes? Dungy 13:20, 26 October 2010 (PDT)

I think some empty boxes would be a small price(you could put in a "-------"), for it becoming easier to read.--Tribun 13:25, 26 October 2010 (PDT)

So I'm wondering, why are there two weapons tables? Is the second one supposed Herzog after an event? I could spruce the tables up for these shops. Also should we include the economy patch shop lists on any of this? - User:Iceblade 01:46, 15, Feb. 2012 (EST)

I agree, they need to be spruced up. I never got around to it, unfortunately. nothing wider than 800 px, though. We need to help out those who have less than stellar resolutions.Dungy 03:55, 15 February 2012 (PST)
Not sure I understand this line: "The weapons list sold at Herzog's change to the following table after . All other items are still sold. "Dungy 15:33, 15 February 2012 (PST)
I thought there had been a change in the shop based on the second table. When I checked it out with the game files, however, I found there was no change in what was sold, so I removed that line and the first weapons table (the second one was the correct one). I've gone through and fixed all of the shop tables, made some heading tweaks, and double checked the lists with those used by the game. The tables are now complete and 100% accurate. - User:Iceblade 21:51, 16 Feb. 2012 (EST)

I see there's already been some deliberation on this. Sorry, but I've been splitting up these monolithic tables for a few months now. I have a few problems w/the monolithic style:

  1. You're joining tables that don't have anything in common. This means a row will have cells that are not relevant to other cells in the same row. One solution I had to this was making thicker borders, like I did in Elena.
  2. You're almost always going to have dead space cells and the meaning of the hyphens is not always clear. Sometimes they mean that the entire row from the table from which the join is made was not there, and other times it means that particular cell is somehow irrelevant, while other cells in that row were relevant in the original table. Again, I tried to come up w/a solution in Elena.

I didn't really like the Elena solution, so I've just broken up the monolith into separate tables, but unlike this article back in 2010, I nest the tables in a borderless table, so the nested tables are side-by-side, like in Hayley. It has a certain roughness that the monolith doesn't have, but I think it the least of 3 evils.

See Talk:Weapon_values#Cleanup_ideas for more discussion on this issue. Also, fair warning, once I've cleaned up these tables in other articles, I intend to apply my honed craft to Weapon values and Armour values.--The Ultra-Mind (talk) 14:24, 19 May 2022 (MDT)
