Located on the Realm of the Gargoyles, the Temple of Singularity is the most holy location in the Gargoyle philosophy, and once held their three sacred books: the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom, the Book of Circles and The Book of Prophecies.
History[edit]
Located deep beneath the realm of Britannia, the Temple of Singularity once held the most holy book to the Gargoyles, the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom. The Avatar, by descending through the Stygian Abyss, and once proved enlightened in the Eight Virtues, gained access to this most sacred text, thus becoming the Avatar of Britannia.
Shortly after these events, the Great Council removed the Codex from the Temple of Singularity and brought it to the surface of Britannia, on the Isle of the Avatar. This resulted in the devastation of the Gargoyle realm, and the formation of the Underworld. Later, during the hero's quest to rescue Lord British from the grasp of the Shadowlords, the Avatar once again journeyed to the Temple, finding only a boiling pit of lava, from which the hero retrieved the lost Mystic Arms.
During the Gargoyle War, the hero was able to reach the Temple of Singularity by means of a hot-air balloon from the Realm of the Gargoyles. The Shrine asked the Avatar for whom the Codex was sought, and if the hero answered for both races, and had shown significant Virtue during the quest to bring peace between the two races, the Shrine would request the Avatar learn more about the Gargoyle race by visiting the shrines of Control, Passion, and Diligence. After visiting the three Gargoyle shrines, and learning the mantra of Singularity, the hero would be sent on a sacred quest to the Shrine of the Codex to return the Codex to the Ethereal Void.[1]

Trivia[edit]
- If the Avatar's karma is too low, the shrine will refuse the hero. If there is no way left to rise the karma, this actually means a painfully late game over.
