Description[edit]

While on the Quest of the Avatar, the Stranger could receive word from the boy Allen to consult Blissful for information regarding the Abyss. Should the hero address the peaceable beast, she would explain that the nearby enshrined Ankh could impart knowledge as to how to enter the Codex chamber. She could further instruct the adventurer to meditate within the shrines of Honesty, Compassion, and Valor for three cycles each, that the answer of how to unseal the Abyss' opening might be revealed.[1]

Trivia[edit]

  • In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV, the seahorse reveals that her name among her people is "Sthissisness", and that she is known by "Blissful" only to the race of men. She chides the Stranger as being foolish to seek to enter the Abyss, yet gives advice on how to do it nevertheless.[2]
  • In the document discovered by historians Robert De Main and Carlotta Stein that purports to be the Avatar's personal diary, the Stranger meets Blissful while she is conversing with Frontis, alerting the hero as to the seahorse's capability of speech. She and the druid go on to jovially discuss the Temple of the Virtues and its mysterious Ankh before she dives under the water, splashing Frontis as she leaves.[3]
