This article is about the character from the SNES-port of Ultima VII. For the Ultima IV character, see Benjamin.
Benjamin is a character unique to the Super Nintendo-port of Ultima VII. He is the son of Fuqua, the chief guard of Paws, and he is well noted in the town for his outspoken views against the Fellowship.
Description[edit]
Benjamin initially came across as a sullen and misanthropic youth, complaining about the gloom of the day before him and angrily lambasting the Fellowship should they be mentioned. Despite his ill temper, many of the regulars at the nearby Salty Dog Tavern seemed to idolize him, and Bear and Jason both spoke of him deferentially.[1][2][3]
Should the Avatar have undertaken the task from mayor Frances to discover who had stolen the plaque for the statue to be erected in the Fellowship's honor, the hero could eventually trace the crime back to Benjamin, learning from his remorseful father that it was his knife which was found at the scene of the crime.[4] Once confronted, Benjamin would admit to the vandalism, but would state firmly that he did not regret his actions. Speaking with a gravity unseen before, the young man would ask that the Avatar, as a being enlightened in Justice, to seek out the true nature of the Fellowship, and to then come back some day to lay judgment upon him.[5]
Trivia[edit]
- Benjamin's portrait is identical to that of Tobias from the PC version of Ultima VII.
