Using a tent for camping on Mars

A tent is a shelter for camping in the wilderness that can be easily transported by one person. It is used in Martian Dreams.

Description[edit]

Typically made of strong, resilient fabrics, a tent provides shelter from unfriendly climatic conditions too extreme for a simple bedroll. A tent can be rolled up and thus easily transported atop a traveler's backpack. The party was forced to resort to using a tent when resting in Martian Dreams due to generally low temperatures and hostile weather on Mars. Although the expedition brought one along with them, a replacement could also be purchased at the Trading Post for the right amount of oxium.

Lore[edit]

Since it was coldest at night, we learned to rest as soon as it got dark, and stay in our tent or underground until it was light again. We simply could not wear enough clothing to keep us warm out in the open after dark.

Trivia[edit]

  • Tents are also seen being used by other people in Ultima IX, especially in Minoc. However, the Avatar cannot carry one around at that time.
  • In the NES-port of Ultima III, Tents are single-use items that can be purchased at a Guild Shop, recovering 100 HP per party member when used.
  • In Ultima V for NES, Tents are used to save your game and sleep, just as at an Inn, but without paying 50 GP.
