Sarkael is a daemon in a cave by the shore south of Cove in Ultima V: Lazarus.

The brother to Saer'bhan and Fraoch, Sarkael had been torn from his plane of existence and forced to serve Elistaria, bound by the dark powers of her sorcery. He would tell the Avatar little about his role in the dreary cave the hero found him in, only stating he had been sent there against his will to spy on the citizens of Cove through his puppet Vortigyrn, but had been left with the ability to follow his own agenda. He had learned that the sisters Ava and Leona had discovered a secret which could be damaging to the Shadowlords, and he felt if he removed this threat he would be freed from Elistaria's control and could revel in the chaos and horror that the Shadowlords would soon unleash.[1]

When the Avatar attempted to leave, Sarkael became hostile with the hero and attempted to kill the Avatar. Should Sarkael be defeated, Vortigyrn will be freed from the daemon's control.

Sarkael's binding element was the skull of Lady Windemere, which was used by Elistaria to place Sarkael in her service. The Avatar could choose to steal the skull and return it to Sarkael, freeing him from the mage's powers. Sarkael would use his newfound freedom to murder the inhabitants of Windemere.
