Ultima VII

Komor is a crippled beggar living in Paws, who plies for alms along the town's dirt crossroads with his companion Fenn in Ultima VII.

Description[edit]

Prior to the agricultural failures wrought by the seven year drought, Komor was a well-to-do farmer of the region, having come from a wealthy lineage. After the drought deprived him of his livelihood and home, he took to sleeping in the streets, begging for charity with his former farmhand Fenn and their friend Merrick. One night, a group of bandits assaulted Komor, hoping that he still carried some of his family's gold. When they found him penniless, they beat him until he was lame.[1]

By the time the Avatar had the opportunity to meet Komor, the vagrant had developed a bitter and sarcastic sense of black humor, joking with the hero that he worked as a dancer and commenting on the veritable "wonderland" that was Paws. At this time, he and Fenn had parted ways from Merrick, who had opted to join the Fellowship that he might be housed in their homeless shelter. This move had earned him the ire of his former confederates, who viewed his capitulation to the philosophical society as a betrayal and resented his attempts to court their membership.[2]

Like Fenn, Komor proved grateful for any coinage which the Avatar could donate, but bore no ill will against anyone who could not or would not. The duo were further supported by the widow Camille, who sent them food with her son Tobias such as they might avoid starvation.[3][4]

Lore[edit]

Feridwyn and his wife have set up a shelter for those without a home, but it is sponsored by The Fellowship, so not everyone is willing to accept its hospitality. As a matter of fact, Komor, Fenn and Merrick were once good friends until Merrick "turned coat," as they claim, and moved into the shelter.
