Ultima V: Lazarus[edit]

This is an Ultima V: Lazarus-related article or section. The information within may not apply to Ultima V or other Ultima games.

In Ultima V: Lazarus, Jaymes readily talked about his profession as tavernkeeper, and his love of performance and writing verse.

Jaymes mentioned that Blackthorn’s reign had been good for him, for Blackthorn's guards often frequented his tavern, and they tipped well, although they did discourage casual visits to Castle Britannia, which had been bad for business. He was even willing to perform for the Avatar a ballad about the king's rise to power, although his prowess as a bard was lacking. Jaymes spoke highly of his cook and friend Andre, although admitted that his style was unorthodox.[1]

The tavernkeep further talked about his customers, mentioning Christopher was frequently working on a book called Times of Lore, and that Phillip had a great love of alcohol, and frequently needed to be rescued from drink by Christopher. He also talked about Camile and her daughter Melaine, suggesting the mother had little time to look after her daughter, but fortunately the girl could look after herself.

Should the Avatar ask Jaymes about his amulet, the bartender was quick to admit that he had built up a fine collection of trinkets during his career running the Blue Boar, but when he tried to show the hero his collection, he found it was gone. It was then that Jaymes remembered a number of brigands had stopped by his tavern the other day, and during a singing contest, one of them had snuck behind the bar. Jaymes tasked the hero with finding his collection, saying he believed the brigands had been staying with Terbor at the Hotel Britanny. Should the Avatar return his trinkets, Jaymes rewarded the hero with a Resurrect scroll.
