Forum:The Codex of Ultima Wisdom and The Ultima Codex

So Ken has made public his new megasite, the The Ultima Codex, which we are now a part of, just like we were previously a part of Utima Aiera. I foresee big things for his project, although I've been a part-time contributor for some time on Aiera, so I suppose I am prejudiced.

Currently, nothing has changed here at the Codex of Ultima Wisdom, but I think it would be best if we discussed what changes (if any) we want to make.

First of all, our name. We now have The Codex of Ultima Wisdom and The Ultima Codex. Needless to say, this is confusing. Do we want to keep our name the same, or do we want to change to something akin to The Ultima Wiki? I know the name change and move from Wikia was not fun, but it is something I think needs to be discussed, and should not be nearly as traumatic as the last move.

Secondly, our domain name. I believe the current plan is to move codex.ultimaaiera.com to wiki.ultimacodex.com, although, I'm not sure the status of that. I have been told it would not be a problem leaving redirects from the current ultimaaiera pages to the new location, so this should ideally not cause any disruption of service. What are the thoughts on moving domain names? I hope Fenyx4 gets a chance to pipe in on this, since he's the go to guy for wiki issues. Dungy 12:04, 28 March 2012 (PDT)

I don't think we really need to rename the Wiki. "The Codex of Ultima Wisdom at http://wiki.ultimacodex.com" sounds pretty nice. If all the redirects work properly, then its a million times better than what Wikia ever did. Just my 2c. -Browncoat Jayson 12:32, 28 March 2012 (PDT)

I'm for it. Definitely want to stick with the WtF on the journey. I say keep the name the same though.

When it comes to moving over I plan on moving and updating to a new version of MediaWiki in one fell swoop. Then lock this one down so no edits can be made but they can be viewed side by side for a bit to make sure nothing got messed up. Staying with WtF can only be to our avantage and he's done tremendous work. We should keep our name, as that by now has become our brand and we shouldn't fiddle around with it. However, we should use the move to finally get a nicer sidebar, since the opportunity arises.--Tribun 13:56, 28 March 2012 (PDT)

Well, many months later I'm finally getting the move underway. I've disabled image uploading during this process. Feel free to keep editing pages though.
