De Maria, from Ultima VII
De Maria was among the few Britannians of the age to immediately recognize the Avatar on sight, having sung many a ballad about the hero in the past. Flamboyant and outspoken, the bard was quick to regale the hero with the tragic tale of Nastassia and her dead mother, Nadia - and would implore the adventurer to assist in helping the woe-stricken girl in overcoming her sorrow.
If the Avatar learned of his romance with Zinaida from Lord Heather, De Maria would expound upon his passions in flowery words at the mention of her name, drawing smiling protestations from the tavernkeeper if she was present at the time.
- De Maria's real world counterpart is Rusel DeMaria, author of numerous strategy guides for Ultima and other games.
