Xela is a fighter in Serpent's Hold in Ultima V: Lazarus.

A Knight of the Order of the Silver Serpent, Xela helped protect Serpent's Hold from Blackthorn's blockade along with her partner Gabrienne. Xela was vehemently opposed to the Oppression, and believed Gardner's vision that someday Lord British would return as the ruler of Britannia. A proud member of the Order of the Silver Serpent, Xela told the hero how in the past her compatriots had roamed Britannia righting wrongs, but now many had returned to the Keep to protect it from Blackthorn's advances, and was determined to maintain the bastion of Courage with her life.[1]

Xela admitted she was not the easiest person to get to know, and most people did not like her when they did, but had been traveling with Gabrienne for a number of years, and joked that she had been unable to shake her, recommending the hero ask Gabrienne about her Avatar stories. The warrior was unwilling to talk about her past, only that she wished to redeem herself for past sins, and was unable to return home.

Gabrienne shared with the hero how she and Xela had originally gained membership into the Order of the Silver Serpent, telling how they had attempted to ambush a group of brigands, who had been pillaging the western shores of Britannia, as they sailed amongst the archipelago the Isle of Deeds was a part of. Unfortunately, the bandits had their base on same island which Xela and Gabrienne hid, so the two had had to defend themselves when the bandits discovered their presence. In the ensuing battle, the two warriors were gravely injured before routing the brigands. In her injured state, Gabrienne had managed to row Xela to Serpent's Hold, where the two warriors were healed. Lord Malone, having heard of their bravery, eventually inducted the two into the Order.[2]
