Lord Malone is the lord of Serpent's Hold during the time of Ultima V.
Description[edit]
Lord Malone spoke of how this area was entrusted to his ancestors by Lord British in payment for their deeds of Valor, and that his great grandfather was the famous Sir Percy, who'd cleared the local countryside of dragons some decades ago.[1]
Lord Malone feared that Lord British was no more, or he'd have dealt with Blackthorn and the Shadowlords long ago. He then also mentioned the name of the Shadowlord of Cowardice, Nosfentor, to the Avatar, cautioning to never yell the name, or it could have consequences.

In Ultima V: Lazarus, the Courageous Lord Malone kept watch over the Isle of Deeds, protecting the island from Lord Blackthorn’s men. The Keep had originally come into his family's possession when Lord British deeded his great grandfather Lord Percy the isle for clearing it of dragons.[2]
Opposed to Blackthorn's Oppression, Malone had seceded from the the king's rule, and established himself independent from the monarchy. Lord Malone now saw himself as a staunch defender of Courage and the Virtues, which he believed the new regent did not honour. Malone felt Blackthorn's Ethics removed free will from the population, and forced citizens to act Virtuously because they were afraid of punishment, not because they had good intentions. With his secession, Blackthorn had set up a naval blockade of the island, an idea likely supplied by those Knights who chose to join the Oppression. The embattled lord felt it only a matter of time before their forces weakened sufficiently that Blackthorn might readily take the island. As ruler of the keep which housed the Knights of the Order of the Silver Serpent, Lord Malone highly valued the contributions of Wulfgar, the captain of the guard, and his duties protecting the castle from harm.
On the day of the Dark Siege, Lord Blackthorn, Sir Simon, and Lord Malone sailed against Councillor Windemere’s forces on the island of Windemere. Heavily outnumbered, Lord Malone thought they should have surely lost the day, but a dark force arose and wracked Councillor Windemere's ships, leaving Lord Blackthorn untouched. During the carnage, Lord Blackthorn disappeared, and by the time Sir Simon and Lord Malone arrived on the island, the inhabitants had all been slaughtered to a man. It was at that time that Lord Malone and Sir Simon realized Blackthorn was evil and left his company, becoming outlaws.
In order to break the naval blockade, Lord Malone tasked the Avatar with talking to David at Greyhaven on the Cape of Heroes with finding a way around their siege.[3]
Lord Malone revealed that there was a Shadowlord that walked Britannia, the antithesis of Courage, that was known as Nosfentor. The Lord told the hero that Lord British could not return to Britannia as long as this wraith lived, warning that to utter its name loudly would summon the creature.
Despite Lord Malone's disgust with Lord Dalgrin, whom he believed would be best served by hanging from the gallows, Malone was willing to deed the pirate a small island near the Isle of Deeds in exchange for smuggling Serpent's Hold essential food, supplies, and medicine from Trinsic via Greyhaven.
