"Wench" (likely a working name) is a hostess at the Baths in Buccaneer's Den. She appears in Ultima VII.

Description

Wench would prove disinclined to conversation outside of the bathhouse, wishing her private life not to mingle with her work. Should the Avatar encountered her in the evening at the House of Baths, however, she would be decidedly more attentive, acting the part of a flirtatious courtesan. She claimed that she had worked in the Baths since their opening, and that she felt well paid and well treated in her position, suffering no exploitation at the hands of her employer.

If the hero wished to partake of her services, she would offer a luxuriant bath; a sensual massage; or to simply engage the Avatar in pleasant conversation, where she spoke of rumors of secret passages inside the mountains of the island. She also would invite the hero to join her in the Community Room, where she could perform a variety of sexual acts. If bedded, she would insinuate that Roberto and Martine stole from their customers, and that the Avatar was fortunate to have chosen her as a diversion.

Trivia

• Speaking with Mandy reveals that Wench got her position by winning a contest – this is a reference to the Ultima VI Immortality Contest, where a woman named Julie Shenton had won the prize of having the portrait of a NPC modeled after her.
• Wench will flirt with and bed the Avatar regardless of gender, although she will initially recommend female characters see Roberto.
