This article is about an NPC in Ultima IX. For an NPC in Ultima VI, see Valkadesh.
Valkadesh is the leader of the winged gargoyles in the underwater city in Ultima IX and proud of his race's technological accomplishment. Despite the resolution achieved in Ultima VI concerning the prophecy of the False Prophet and the fate of the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom, Valkadesh was convinced that the Avatar would bring about the destruction of the gargoyle race. However, unlike some of his confederates, Valkadesh did not believe that the prophecy could be averted, even by killing the hero, and thus, the gargoyles’ end was determined.
Description[edit]
The Avatar met him in his office after entering Ambrosia. Valkadesh said that all the gargoyles saw the Avatar as the False Prophet, who would destroy them according to prophecy. Valkadesh also believed the prophecy to be inevitable, but that the Avatar's intentions were good. He also noted that Queen Zhah was angry since the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom had vanished from the void, where it was housed for gargoyles and humans to share.[1]
When the Avatar asked how to reach the dungeon Hythloth, Valkadesh said to consult Wislem in his floating house. He died, when during the collapse of the city he was murdered by Noname.
