Ragnar is a solemn ranger who could be found in Buccaneer's Den during Ultima IV.

Ragnar travelled the realm of Britannia, and knew of a great many things as a result. Should the Stranger, following a tip from Sebastian in Britain and ask after the Skull of Mondain at the Captain Black Tavern, the hero would eventually encounter Ragnar, who would warn that if the skull was ever used for any purpose, except to destroy it, all Virtue would be lost.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (where most character names were omitted and dialogue was significantly modified), Ragnar can be identified with the pirate in the same location. He apparently swapped role with Jude: instead of explaining its negative effects, he reveals the skull's whereabouts.[2]
- A "Ragnar the Rugged" appears in the Ultima III clue book Secrets of Sosaria, where he is listed as the individual who explored and mapped Dardin's Pit. Given that many of the other characters in this publication are taken from the personae of Richard Garriott's friends in the Society for Creative Anachronism, it is possible that a real world individual lent his SCA-name to this character.
