This article is about a character from Ultima IV. For the bestiary entry, see Reaper.
An unnamed reaper could be found in the prisons of Castle Britannia in Ultima IV.
Description[edit]
The reaper would complain to the Stranger about not having anyone to eat. If asked about its adventurer-killing habits, it would hint at an artifact capable of slaughtering many, and would divulge that knowledge of it could be found at Buccaneer's Den. The monstrosity would also infer the Stranger had a lack of intelligence, should the Stranger claim to not be interested in seeking out the artifact.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- In the alleged journal of the Avatar discovered by historians Robert DeMain and Carlotta Stein, the reaper is mentioned as smiling, and tenses its tendrils as the party approaches as if ready to attack.[2]
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV, the reaper directly mentions the Skull of Mondain and the feeling of sadistic pleasure that accompanies its use. It asks of the Stranger's joy in the killing of innocents: the answer affects four Virtues.[3]
