Noxum is a spiny nixie who can be found inhabiting a pool in the environs of Serpent's Hold in Ultima IV.
Description[edit]
A rarity amongst his generally hostile race, Noxum appeared to be peaceable and would stop to converse with the Stranger. Knowing Britannia's vast oceans, the nixie spoke of the numerous sunken ships that lay at the bottom of the sea, noting those who might have survived such misadventures would recall their exact locations. He made particular mention of the legendary HMS Cape and its magical wheel, which could strengthen the hull of any vessel fitted with it.[1]
Trivia[edit]
- In the Nintendo remake of Ultima IV (where most names are omitted and dialogue is significantly modified), Noxum can be identified with the nixie in the same location. Here, the character exhibits a mocking tone, claiming the Stranger will no doubt be rejected by the Codex unless carrying the Key of Three Parts. In fact, the magic wheel was omitted from the remake.[2]
